GO THE DISTANCE (HERCULES, 1997)

"People do crazy things... when they're in love." - Meg

It's Disney's take in the '90's to tell the tale of the legendary Hercules from Greek mythology. Crooner Michael Bolton sung the theme and became one of the most popular songs to belt out during singing competition. The song was nominated for best original song in the Oscars, the Golden Globe and Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. It's an inspiring song to say the least.

GO THE DISTANCE
sung by: Michael Bolton

I have often dreamed, of a far off place
Where a hero's welcome, would be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer, when they see my face
And a voice keeps saying, this is where I'm meant to be

I'll be there someday, I can go the distance
I will find my way, if I can be strong
I know ev'ry mile, will be worth my while
When I go the distance, I'll be right where I belong

Down an unknown road, to embrace my fate
Though that road may wander, it will lead me to you
And a thousand years, would be worth the wait
It might take a lifetime, but somehow I'll see it through

And I won't look back, I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track, no, I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope, but I won't lose hope
Till I go the distance, and my journey is complete

But to look beyond the glory is the hardest part
For a hero's strength is measured by his heart

Like a shooting star, I will go the distance
I will search the world, I will face its harms
I don't care how far, I can go the distance
Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms

I will search the world, I will face its harms
Till I find my hero's welcome, waiting in your arms

GLORY OF LOVE
sung by Peter Cetera

Tonight it's very clear
As we're both lying here
There's so many things I wanna say
I will always love you
I would never leave you alone

Sometimes I just forget
Say things I might regret
It breaks my heart to see you cryin'
I don't wanna lose you
I could never make it alone

I am the man who would fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you're dreamin' of
We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

You keep me standing tall
You helped me through it all
I'm always strong when you're beside me
I have always needed you
I could never make it alone

I am the man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you been dreamin' of
We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

Like a knight in shining armor
From a long time ago
Just the time I'd save the day
Take you to my castle far away

(INSTRUMENTAL)

I am the man who would fight for your honor
I'll be the hero that you're dreamin' of
Gonna live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the Glory of Love

We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the Glory of Love
We did it all for love...

FLYING DREAMS (THE SECRET OF NIMH, 1982)

"Right before your eyes and beyond your wildest dreams." - tagline

Paul Williams sung the theme to one of the most well-loved animation in the '80's that doesn't come from the vault of Disney, The Secret of NIMH. Director Don Bluth in fact came from Disney along with other illustrators but left the famous company to make the said animation. Based on the the children fantasy novel by American author Robert C. O'Brien. The theme is melodic and very-well supported the theme's message.

FLYING DREAMS
sung by: Paul Williams

Dream by night
Wish by day
Love begins this way
Loving starts
When open hearts
Touch and stay
Sleep for now
Dreaming's how
Lover's lives are planned
Future songs
And flying dreams
Hand in hand
Love it seems
Made flying dreams
So hearts could soar
Heaven sent
These wings were meant
To prove, once more
That love is the key
Love is the key

You and I
Touch the sky
The eagle and the dove
Nightingales
We keep our sails
Filled with love
And love it seems
Made flying dreams
To bring you home to me

Love it seems
Made flying dreams
So hearts could soar
Heaven sent
These wings were meant
To prove, once more
That love is the key
Love is the key
You and I
Touch the sky
The eagle and the dove
Nightingales
We keep our sails
Filled with love
Ever strong
Our future song
To sing it must be free
Every part
Is from the heart
And love is still the key
And love it seems
Made flying dreams
To bring you home to me

FAR LONGER THAN FOREVER (THE SWAN PRINCESS, 1994)

This little known animated film in the '90's has a well-known fairy tale of a story about a princess who turns into a swan and may only take her human form when a moonlight casts its shadow on the lake she was cursed. The theme was nominated in the Golden Globe for best original song in a motion picture.

FAR LONGER THAN FOREVER
sung by: Regina Belle & Jeffrey Osborne

Far longer than forever
I'll hold you in my heart
It's almost like you're here with me
Although we're far apart

Far longer than forever
As constant as a star
I close my eyes and I am where you are
Sure as the dawn brings the sunrise
We've an unshakable bond
Destined to last for a lifetime and beyond

Far longer than forever (Far longer than forever)
Like no love every known
And with your love I'll never be alone

Far longer than forever (Far longer than forever)
Like no love every known
And with your love I'll never be alone

Far longer than forever
Much stronger than forever
And with your love I'll never be alone

Never, never be alone
Never, never be alone
Far longer than forever

ONLY HOPE (A WALK TO REMEMBER, 2002)

The other favorite ballad in the movie A Walk To Remember is Only Hope. Prominently sung by Mandy Moore and heard during one of the film's romantic scenes. The film is unabashedly sentimental for a younger crowd. And plays much better than other teen movies of date.

ONLY HOPE
sung by: Mandy Moore

There's a song that's inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But you sing to me over and over and over again

So, I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours
I know now you're my only hope

Sing to me the song of the stars
Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again

So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours
I know now, you're my only hope

I give you my destiny
I'm giving you all of me
I want your symphony, singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs
I'm giving it back

So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours, I pray, to be only yours
I pray, to be only yours I know now you're my only hope
Hmmmmm, hmmmmm, oooooh.

CRYSTAL (PRACTICAL MAGIC, 1998)

"I dream of a love that even time will lie down and be still for."
- Sally Owens

In 1998, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman plays Sally and Gillian Owens, witch sisters in the movie Practical Magic, an adaptation of Alice Hoffman novel. They play odd sisters trying to overcome the curse that befell on their clan, untimely death for someone they fell in love for.

CRYSTAL
sung by: Stevie Nicks

Do you always trust your first initial feeling
Special knowledge holds truth bears believing
I turned around
And the water was closing all around
Like a glove
Like the love that had finally, finally found me
Then I knew
In the crystalline knowledge of you
Drove me thru the mountains
Thru the crystal-like clear water fountain
Drove me like a magnet
To the sea

How the faces of love have changed turningthe pages
And I have changed oh, but you...you remain ageless
I turned around
And the water was closing all around
Like a glove
Like the love that had finally, finally found me
Then I knew
In the crystalline knowledge of you
Drove me thru the mountains
Thru the crystal-like clear water fountain
Drove me like a magnet
To the sea

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO (THEME FROM MAHOGANY, 1975)

Diana Ross of the Supremes stars as a young ghetto woman who dreams of becoming a big time fashion designer. The song was nominated in the Oscar for best original song. The song prove to be one of Diana Ross' signature songs.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GOING TO
(THEME FROM MAHOGANY)
sung by: Diana Ross

Do you know where you're going to?
Do you like the things that life is showing you
Where are you going to?
Do you know...?
Do you get
What you're hoping for
When you look behind you
There's no open doors
What are you hoping for?
Do you know...?

Once we were standing still in time
Chasing the fantasies
That filled our minds
You knew how I loved you
But my spirit was free
Laughin' at the questions
That you once asked of me

Do you know where you're going to?
Do you like the things that life is showing you
Where are you going to?
Do you know...?

Now looking back at all we've planned
We let so many dreams
Just slip through our hands
Why must we wait so long
Before we'll see
How sad the answers
To those questions can be

Do you know where you're going to?
Do you like the things that life is showing you
Where are you going to?
Do you know...?

Do you get
What you're hoping for
When you look behind you
There's no open doors
What are you hoping for?
Do you know...?

CRUISIN' (DUETS, 2000)

"I can't go back to who I was. I'm different now. I sing."
- Todd Woods

Gwyneth Paltrow plays Liv and sung the film Duets' main theme, Cruisin'. Along with Huey Lewis who plays Ricky Dean, her father, they rendered their own version of the popular song Cruisin'. Duets is a musical-'road-trip' film about different people who met and sung their hearts out in a karaoke competition.

CRUISIN'
sung by: Gwyneth Paltrow & Huey Lewis

Huey Lewis:
Baby let's cruise

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Away from here

Huey Lewis:
Don't be confused

Gwyneth Paltrow:
The way is clear

Both:
And if you want it you got it forever
This is not a one night stand

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Baby... yeah

Both:
So, let the music take your mind
Just release and you will find

Both:
You're gonna fly away
Glad you're going my way
I love it when we're cruising together
Music is played for love
Cruising is made for love
I love it when we're cruising together

Huey Lewis:
Baby tonight

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Belongs to us

Huey Lewis:
Everything right

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Do what you must

Both:
And inch by inch we get closer and closer
To every lil' part of each other

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Oooh baby yeah

Huey Lewis:
Sooo

Both:
Let the music take your mind
Just release and you will find

Both:
Cruise with me baby
Oohhhhhhhh

Huey Lewis:
Yeah

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Oohhhhhhhh

Both:
Oooohhh baby let's cruise

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Let's float, let's glide

Both:
Oohh
Let's open up

Gwyneth Paltrow:
And go inside

Both:
And if you want it, you got it forever
I could just stay here beside you and love you baby
Let the music

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Take your mind

Both:
Just release and

Huey Lewis:
You will find

Both:
You're gonna fly away
Glad you're going my way
I love it when we're cruising together
Music is played for love
Cruising is made for love
I love it when...I love it, I love it, I love it

Gwyneth Paltrow:
Oohh

Huey Lewis:
Cruise with me baby

Gwyneth Paltrow:
I love it when we're cruising together

I COME ALIVE (DATE WITH AN ANGEL, 1987)

This post is dedicated for my dear friend who turns a year older today. Russell Hitchcock of the Air Supply fame not only cover the ballad theme Someone Who Believes In You in the '80's romcom Date With An Angel. He also covers the upbeat I Come Alive that both its score and theme was prominently heard throughout the film. A feel-good tune aptly used in the film.

I COME ALIVE
sung by: Russell Hitchcock

Everyday I prayed that I would find a lover
Then I looked into your eyes and I discovered
Something was changing in my life
Turning the darkness into light

When I'm with you I come alive
I feel I'm living in heaven
You make the wrong turn out so right
I'm gonna love you forever

There is not a thing that I would change about you
And my life was never quite the same without you
You made the rain clouds go away
Bringing me sunshine everyday

When I'm with you I come alive
I feel I'm living in heaven
You make the wrong turn out so right
I'm gonna love you forever

In your arms you make me warm
You give me strength to carry on
I know I won't be alone
As long as I'm with you

(INSTRUMENTAL)

In your arms you make me warm
You give me strength to carry on
I know I won't be alone
As long as I'm with you

When I'm with you I come alive
I feel I'm living in heaven
You make the wrong turn out so right
I'm gonna love you forever

When I'm with you I come alive
I feel I'm living in heaven
You make the wrong turn out so right
I'm gonna love you forever

When I'm with you I come alive
I feel I'm living in heaven
You make the wrong turn out so right
I'm gonna love you forever

CHILDHOOD (FREE WILLY 2: THE ADVENTURE HOME, 1995)

"The adventure is back. The fun is back. Willy's back. And this time he's brought his whole family to meet an old friend... and take on a new challenge." - tagline

The late Michael Jackson sung the ballad theme for the second installment of the family movie, Free Willy. The film brings together Jesse (Jason James Richter) and Willy (Keiko) again for a new adventure. The song was heard aptly during one of Jesse's sad moments. The song has been one of Michael Jackson biggest hits.

CHILDHOOD
sung by: Michael Jackson

Have you seen my childhood?
I'm searching for the world that I come from
'Cause I've been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart...
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities...
'Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me...

People say I'm not okay
'Cause I love such elementary things...
It's been my fate to compensate, for the childhood
I've never known...

Have you seen my childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth
Like pirates and adventurous dreams
Of conquest and kings on the throne...

Before you judge me, try hard to love me
Look within your heart then ask
Have you seen my childhood?
People say I'm strange that way
'Cause I love such elementary things
It's been my fate to compensate
For the childhood I've never known...

Have you seen my childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth
Like fantastical stories to share
The dreams I would dare, watch me fly...

Before you judge me, try hard to love me
The painful youth I've had
Have you seen my childhood?
Have you seen my childhood?

BEN (BEN, 1972)

"Where 'WILLARD' ended... Ben begins.
And this time, he's not alone!" - tagline

Trust little Michael Jackson that he can sung anything cute such as the case of the film Ben about a boy and his beloved vermin named, well, Ben. He sung the well-known perhaps more popular than the film itself theme of the same name. A love song for a rat, no less. The theme was nominated at the Oscars and won at the Golden Globe for best original song.

BEN
sung by: Michael Jackson

Ben, the two of us need look no more
We both found what we were looking for
With a friend to call my own
I'll never be alone
And you my friend will see
You've got a friend in me
(You've got a friend in me)

Ben, you're always running here and there
(Here and there)
You feel you're not wanted anywhere
(Anywhere)
If you ever look behind
And don't like what you find
There's something you should know
You've got a place to go
(You've got a place to go)

I used to say, "I" and "me"
Now it's "us", now it's "we"
(I used to say, "I" and "me")
(Now it's "us", now it's "we")

Ben, most people would turn you away
I don't listen to a word they say
They don't see you as I do
I wish they would try to
I'm sure they'd think again
If they had a friend like Ben
(A friend)
Like Ben
(Like Ben)
Like Ben

GETTING TO KNOW YOU (THE KING AND I, 1956)

"Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera!" - King

One of the most popular movie musicals is the 1956 Rodgers and Hammerstein's production of The King And I. The story centers around the arrival of a widow who accepts a job as a live-in governess of the King of Siam's children. One of its theme Getting To Know You has become one of the most beloved songs that's also been used and sung in classrooms. The film won numerous acting and technical awards during its time. A classic by itself.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU
sung by: Marni Nixon
(dubbing Deborah Kerr)

[Spoken]
It's a very ancient saying
But a true and honest thought
That if you become a teacher
By your pupils you'll be taught

[Singing]
As a teacher I've been learning
You'll forgive me if I boast
And I've now become an expert
On the subject I like most

[Spoken]
Getting to know you

[Singing]
Getting to know you
Getting to know all about you
Getting to like you
Getting to hope you like me

Getting to know you
Putting it my way
But nicely
You are precisely
My cup of tea

[ANNA AND THE MOTHERS]
Getting to know you
Getting to know all about you
Getting to like you
Getting to hope you like me

Getting to know you
Putting it my way
But nicely
You are precisely

[ANNA]
My cup of tea

[ALL]
Getting to know you
Getting to feel free and easy
When I am with you
Getting to know what to say

Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day by day

Getting to know you
Getting to feel free and easy
When I am with you
Getting to know what to say

Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day .. by ... day

I'LL NEVER SAY GOODBYE (THEME FROM THE PROMISE) (THE PROMISE, 1979)

"A haunting story of love and betrayal." - tagline

One of the most unabashedly sentimental film came from the 1979 movie, The Promise. Bestselling author Danielle adapted the original screenplay by Garry Michael White as her novel. The story is a classic case of star-crossed young lovers finding their way back together despite the odds. Through the years, the song has been called simply as The Promise. The theme was nominated in the Oscars for best original song.

I'LL NEVER SAY GOODBYE
(THEME FROM THE PROMISE)
sung by: Melissa Manchester

Say goodbye, when I can barely say goodnight
If I can hardly take my eyes on you, How far can I go?
Walk away, the thought would never cross my mind
I could not turn my back on spring or fall
Your smile, least of all

When I say always, I mean forever
I trust tomorrow, as much as today
I am not afraid to say I love you
And I promise you I’ll never say goodbye

We dances on the crowded room
While other dancers leave from song to song
Our music will lasts
On and on, and if I never leave your heart
I pretty would have traveled everywhere
For my world is there

When I say always, I mean forever
I trust tomorrow, as much as today
I am not afraid to say I love, I love you
And I promise you, I’ll never say goodbye

How could I ever say goodbye?

A CERTAIN SMILE (A CERTAIN SMILE, 1958)

One of the most popular song came from the movie A Certain Smile. It's about a young woman (Christine Carère) who falls in love with his philandering uncle Luc played by Rossano Brazzi who is married to a beautiful Francoise played by Joan Fontaine. It's based on the novel by Françoise Sagan. The theme was nominated in the Oscars for best original song.

A CERTAIN SMILE
sung by: Johnny Mathis

A certain smile
A certain face
Can lead an unsuspecting heart on a merry chase

A fleeting glance
Can say so many lovely things
Suddenly you’ll know why my heart sings
You love awhile

And when love goes
You try to hide the tears inside
With a cheerful pose

But in the hush of night
Exactly like a bittersweet refrain
Comes that certain smile to haunt your heart again

But in the hush of night
Exactly like a bittersweet refrain
Comes that certain smile to haunt your heart again

YOU ARE THE MUSIC IN ME (HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, 2007)

High School Musical became one of the most successful t.v.movie made in recent years. Thanks to well-paced & wholesome story, pleasant actors and best of all the songs and dance choreographed by Kenny Ortega, the man behind such movies as Hocus Pocus, Newsies and directing several tv. series. HSM spawned an expected sequel and a full-length second sequel. Here is You Are The Music In Me as heard prominently during one of the scenes in the second High School Musical.

YOU ARE THE MUSIC AND ME
sung by: High School Musical Cast

[KELSI:]
Na na na na
Na na na na yeah
You are the music in me

You know the words ‘Once Upon A Time’
Make you listen
There’s a reason

[KELSI & GABRIELLA:]
When you dream there’s a chance you’ll find
A little laughter or happy ever after

[GABRIELLA & TROY:]
You’re a harmony to the melody
That’s echoing inside my head

[GABRIELLA:]
A single voice

[TROY:]
Single voice

[GABRIELLA:]
Above the noise

[TROY & GABRIELLA:]
And like a common thread

[TROY:]
Hmm, you’re pulling me

[GABRIELLA:]
When I hear my favorite song
I know that we belong

[TROY:]
Oh, you are the music in me
Yeah it’s living in all of us

[GABRIELLA:]
And it’s brought us here because

[TROY & GABRIELLA:]
Because you are the music in me

[TROY & GABRIELLA:]
Na na na na (Ohh)
Na na na na na
Yeah yeah yeah
(Na na na na)
You are the music in me

[GABRIELLA:]
It’s like I knew you before we met

[TROY:]
Before we met

[GABRIELLA:]
Can’t explain it

[TROY:]
Ohh ohh

[GABRIELLA:]
There’s no name for it

[TROY:]
No name for it

[TROY & GABRIELLA:]
I’m saying words I never said

[TROY:]
And it was easy

[GABRIELLA:]
So easy

[TROY:]
Because you see the real me

[GABRIELLA:]
I see

[TROY:]
As I am

[TROY & GABRIELLA:]
You understand
And that’s more than I’ve ever known
[GABRIELLA:]
To hear your voice

[TROY:]
Hear your voice

[GABRIELLA:]
Above the noise

[TROY:]
Ohh ohh

[GABRIELLA & TROY:]
And no, I’m not alone

[GABRIELLA:]
Oh, you’re singing to me

[TROY:]
Ohh yeah

[TROY & GABRIELLA:]
When I hear my favorite song
I know that we belong (Yeah ohh)
You are the music in me
It’s living in all of us
And it’s brought us here because
You are the music in me

[TROY & GABRIELLA:]
Together we’re gonna sing (Yeah)
We got the power to sing what we feel

[GABRIELLA:]
What we feel

[TROY & GABRIELLA:]
Connected and real
Can’t keep it all inside (Ohh)

[EVERYONE:]
Na na na na (Ohh yeah)
Na na na na na (Ohh yeah)
Yeah yeah yeah (Na na na na)

[GABRIELLA:]
You are the music in me

[TROY:]
In me

[EVERYONE:]

When I hear my favorite song

[TROY:]
Favorite song

[EVERYONE:]
I know that we belong

[GABRIELLA:]
We belong

[EVERYONE:]
You are the music in me
Yeah it’s living in all of us
It’s brought us here because

[GABRIELLA:]
Here because

[EVERYONE:]
You are the music in me
Na na na na

[GABRIELLA:]
Ohh yeah

Na na na na

[GABRIELLA:]

IT'S TIME TO SAY I LOVE YOU (THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN PART 2, 1978)

"Because I'll die the next time. I know I will. I came so close to it the other times. After Dick, I went into pills. After my father it was worse. I stopped wanting to teach. I didn't even paint. You have no idea how hard it was to want to come back. To find something... anything... that mattered to come back to. I love you, but I can't have you. I can't have anybody." - Jill Kinmont

Perhaps one of the saddest yet beautiful song was the theme from the 1978 movie, The Other Side Of The Mountain Part 2, It's Time To Say I Love You. Sung by Merrily Webber, the song speaks of timeless longing to tell someone he is loved. Based on the true story of the 18 year old skier who lost her will to survive at first but later gathered enough strength to pull through despite the odds. The second part of the story has Jill and her Mom rent a summer house and Jill met John Boothe, a handsome truck driver. The theme has been a staple in late-night radio listening. Soothing.

IT'S TIME TO SAY I LOVE YOU
sung by: Merrily Webber

When you know that love is right
You gather dream bouquets
And one or two will drift along with you
Through all your colored days

And time is warm and meadows sweet
Like sunlight through the trees

The clouds go by
Just howlin’s in the sky
On whispered days like these

When summer smiles
On everything with do
It’s time to say I love you

(INSTRUMENTAL)

The clouds go by
Just howlin’s in the sky
On whispered days like these

When summer smiles
On everything with you
It’s time to say I love you

I DON'T WANT TO SAY GOODBYE (BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, 2005)

"Love Is A Force Of Nature." - tagline

Ang Lee's well-received 2005 film Brokeback Mountain is truly an achievement in filmmaking. The tagline aptly describes the film's overall content. No matter what age, race or gender, Love hits us all one way or another such as the case of Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and Jack Twist (Jake Gyllenhaal) who finds love in the most unexpected situation. It's more than just your 'gay cowboys in love.' Teddy Thompson sung one of the songs in the movie, I Don't Want To Say Goodbye. The message speaks to us all.

I DON’T WANT TO SAY GOODBYE
sung by: Teddy Thompson

I don’t want to say goodbye
Let the stars shine through
I don’t want to say goodbye
All I want to do is live with you

Just like the light of the morning
After the darkness has gone
The shadow of my love is falling
On a place where the sun always shines
Don’t you know that’s where our hearts both belong?

‘Cause I don’t want to say goodbye
Let the sun shine through
No, I don’t want to say goodbye
All I want to do is live with you

Together, our two hearts are strong
Don’t you know that’s where our hearts both belong?

‘Cause I don’t want to say goodbye
Let the stars shine through
No, I don’t want to say goodbye
All I want to do is live with you
All I want to do is live with you

YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL (CARLITO'S WAY, 1993)

"The dream don't come no closer by itself.
We gotta run after it now." -Carlito Brigante

One of Al Pacino's enigmatic performances has a enthralling theme, You Are So Beautiful sung by Joe Cocker. In Carlito's Way, Pacino plays Carlito Brigante, an ex-con who had a hard time staying away from his sordid past as a drug dealer. The theme was heard aptly during the tender moments when he reconnects with an old flame Gail play by the beautiful Penelope Ann Miller.

YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL TO ME
sung by: Joe Cocker

You are so beautiful
To me
You are so beautiful
To me
Can’t you see
You’re everything I hope for
You’re everything I need
You are so beautiful to me
You are so beautiful to me

You are so beautiful
To me
Can’t you see
You’re everything I hope for
You’re every, everything I need
You are so beautiful to me

YOUR LOVE (SALSA, 1988)

Robby Rosa of the then-famous boy group Menudo in the '80's solo starred in what could be his only international movie Salsa. He played Rico, a dancer who wants to make it big as the 'King of Salsa' in the club known as La Luna. A dance movie that works best only for Robby Rosa fans. The late Laura Branigan sung the theme ballad Your Love for the movie that was also covered albeit a different words were used by Diana Ross.

YOUR LOVE
sung by: Laura Branigan

Sometimes when I’m sitting all alone
I think of things that I have done
And start to wonder if there’s one thing
That means more than others I have known
And suddenly it’s seems to me
Without your love where would I be

Your love has kept me going
Through good and bad times
It’s kept me growing
Your love has kept on burning
Through sweet and sad times
I’ll keep returning to the magic of your love

Through the years my dreams may come and go
For fortune is a funny thing
And no one knows what time may bring
But through the highs and lows I know
That there’s one thing I know for sure
The one thing I’ve been living for

Your love has kept me going
Through good and bad times
It’s kept me growing
Your love has kept on burning
Through sweet and sad times
I’ll keep returning to the magic of your love

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Your love has kept me going
Through good and bad times
It’s kept me growing
Your love has kept on burning
Through sweet and sad times
I’ll keep returning to the magic of your love
It keeps on burning
Through sweet and sad times

Your love has kept me going
Through good and bad times
I’ll keep returning to the magic of your love

Oh, I’ll keep returning to your love

SOMEONE IN THE DARK (E.T. EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL, 1982)

"I'll be right here."- E.T.

Probably one of the greatest movie themes that never made it to the big screen was this charming song sung by the late Michael Jackson for the movie E.T. Extra-Terrestrial. The movie, hailed as one of the greatest films ever made has a very moving score that even without a theme stands firmly on its own. Imagine incorporating the unreleased song and it would make a different impact on the movie. The family movie that never fails the author to shed a tear.

SOMEONE IN THE DARK
sung by: Michael Jackson

All alone, wishing on stars
Waiting for you to find me
One sweet night, I knew I would see
A stranger who’d be my friend

When someone in the dark
Reaches out to you
And touches off a spark
That comes shining through
It tells you never be afraid
When somewhere in your heart
You can feel the glow
A light to keep you warm
When the night winds blow
Like it was written in a stars, I knew
My friend, my someone in the dark was you

Promise me, we’ll always be
Walking the world together
Hand in hand where dreams never end
My star secret friend and me
When someone in the dark
Reaches out to you
And touches off a spark
That comes shining through
It tells you never be afraid
When somewhere in your heart
You can feel the glow
A light to keep you warm
When the night winds

Look for the rainbow in the sky
I believe you and I could never really say goodbye
Wherever you maybe, I’ll look up and see
Someone in the dark, for me

Wherever you maybe, I’ll look up and see
Someone in the dark, for me
