WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR (PINOCCHIO, 1940)

“Now, remember, Pinocchio: be a good boy. And always let your conscience be your guide.” – The Blue Fairy

One of the most beloved animated films ever is the 1940 Walt Disney classic, Pinocchio. Based on a popular children’s book, the film was made more memorable and timeless with the song When You Wish Upon A Star sung by Cliff Edwards. The theme won at the Oscars for best original song.

WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR
sung by: Cliff Edwards

When you wish upon a star

Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
Will come to you

If your heart is in your dreams
No request is to extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
As sweet fullfillment of their secret drowns
Like a boat out of the blue
Fate steps in and see's you through

Moma when you wished upon a star
Your dreams come true

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
As sweet fullfillment of their secret drowns
Like a boat out of the blue
Fate steps in and see's you through

Baby when you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true
When you wished upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Your dreams come true

WHAT’S THIS LIFE FOR? (CREED, HALLOWEEN H20: 20 YEARS LATER, 1998)

“Oh. Miss Tate. I didn't mean to make you jump. It's Halloween. I guess everyone's entitled to one good scare.” – Norma Watson

The seventh installment in the unstoppable Michael Myers saga has Laurie Strode tracks Myers down and kills him for good. Former Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis returns as the iconic survivor
. Creed provided the song at the end of the film when Laurie ended Michael’s reign for good.

WHAT’S THIS LIFE FOR
sung by: Creed

Hurray for a child

That makes it through
If there's any way
Because the answer lies in you

They're laid to rest
Before they know just what to do
Their souls are lost
Because they could never find

What's this life for
What's this life for
What's this life for

I see your soul, its kinda grey
You see my heart, you look away
You see my wrist, I know your pain
I know your purpose on your plane

Don't say a last prayer
Because you could never find

What's this life for
What's this life for
What's this life for
What's this life for

But they ain't here anymore
Don't have to settle the score
'Cause we all live
Under the reign of one king

But they ain't here anymore
Don't have to settle no God damn score
'Cause we all live under the Reign
I said we live under

One king
One king
One king

But they ain't here anymore
Don't have to settle no God damn score
'Cause we all live under the reign
I said we live under

One king
One king
One king

But they ain't here anymore
Don't have to settle no God damn score
'Cause we all live under the reign of of one king

WAITING FOR A GIRL LIKE YOU (FOOTLOOSE, 1984)

“Hey, hey! What's this I see? I thought this was a party.
Let's Dance!” - Ren

Another one of the memorable songs in the equally memorable dance film of the ‘80’s Footloose is the song Waiting For A Girl Like You by Foreigner.

WAITING FOR A GIRL LIKE YOU
sung by: Foreigner

So long, I've been looking too hard,
I've been waiting too long
Sometimes I don't know what I will find,
I only know it's a matter of time
When you love someone
When you love someone
It feels so right, so warm and true,
I need to know if you feel it too

Maybe I'm wrong, won't you tell me if
I'm coming on too strong
This heart of mine has been hurt before
This time I wanna be sure

I've been waiting for a girl like you
To come into my life
I've been waiting for a girl like you
Your loving will survive
I've been waiting for someone new
To make me feel alive
Yeah, waiting for a girl like you
To come into my life

You're so good
When we make love it's understood
It's more than a touch or a word can say
Only in dreams could it be this way
When you love someone
Yeah, really love someone

Now I know it's right
From the moment I wake up till deep in the night
There's nowhere on earth that
I'd rather be than holding you tenderly

I've been waiting for a girl like you
To come into my life
I've been waiting for a girl like you
Your loving will survive
I've been waiting for someone new
To make me feel alive
Yeah, waiting for a girl like you
To come into my life

I've been waiting, waiting for you
Ooh, I've been waiting
I've been waiting
(I've been waiting for a girl like you, I've been waiting)
Won't you come into my life?

WAIT UNTIL DARK (WAIT UNTIL DARK,1967)

“Mr. Roat, are you looking at me?” – Susy Hendrix

A tour-de-force in filmmaking, Wait Until Dark is one of the most effective chillers ever filmed. Audrey Hepburn plays a very convincing blind woman who struggles to save her life in the hands of three killers inside her apartment. A titular theme was heard at the end of the film. The haunting song was sung by Sue Raney

WAIT UNTIL DARK
sung by: Sue Raney

Who cares how cold and gray
The day may be
Wait until dark
And we'll be warm
Our place of love
Is where we face
Our dreams together

Where our fantasies take fold
When I can feel your nearness in the night
My disappointments disappear
The chilliest day may bring us little dreams
That seem to miss their mark
But, oh my dark
Wait until dark

TRUE LOVE (HIGH SOCIETY, 1956)

“Isn't it a fine day. Is everybody fine? That's fine.” - Tracy

One of the most charming and timeless song ever written was heard in the movie High Society, a musical remake of another classic movie, The Philadelphia Story. Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra star in a love triangle, of sorts. The theme was nominated best original song at the Oscars.

TRUE LOVE
sung by: Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly

(dubbed by Niki Schenck)

DEXTER and TRACY:
Sun-tanned
Wind-blown
Honeymooners at last alone
Feeling far above par
Oh, how lucky we are!
While...

I give to you and you give to me
True love, true love
So on and on it'll always be
True love, true love

For you and I
Have a guardian angel on high
With nothin' to do
But to give to you and to give to me
Love forever true

For you and I
Have a guardian angel on high
With nothin' to do
But to give to you and to give to me
Love forever true
Love forever true

TOMORROW (ANNIE, 1982)

“I don't need sunshine now to turn my skies to blue.
I don't need anything but you.” – Annie

One of the recognizable theme from a movie as well as the Broadway was sung in Annie. The famous orphan who grew up wanting to have her own family. Based on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie.

TOMORROW
sung by: Aileen Queen

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!

Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray
And lonely
I just stick out my chin
And Grin, And Say, Oh!

The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may

Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray
And lonely
I just stick out my chin
And Grin, And Say, Oh!

Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!
You're always
A day
A way!

THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN (THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN, 1954)

These girls in love never realize that they should be honestly dishonest instead of being dishonestly honest.”
- John Frederick Shadwell

Three hopeless romantic American girls set their hope in finding true love by throwing coins each and wishing in Rome’s dazzling Trevi Fountain. A romcom in the ‘50’s. The song won the best original song at the Oscars.

THREE COINS IN THE FOUNTAIN
sung by: Frank Sinatra
(uncredited)

Three coins in a fountain

Each one seeking happiness
Thrown by three hopeful lovers
Which one will the fountain bless?

Three hearts in a fountain
Each heart longing for its home
There they lie in the fountain
Somewhere in the heart of Rome

Which one will the fountain bless?
Which one will the fountain bless?

Three coins in a fountain
Through the ripples, how they shine
Just one wish will be granted
One heart will wear a Valentine

Make it mine
Make it mine
Make it mine

TO LOVE SOMEBODY (MELODY, 1971)

“A tender love story for everyone who was ever ten years old.”
- tagline

The Bee Gees sung one of their most popular songs ever To Love Somebody in the movie Melody. It’s the story of a very young boy and a girl who one day decided to tell their parents they want to get married. Cute.

TO LOVE SOMEBODY
sung by: The Bee Gees

There's a light

A certain kind of light
That never shone on me
I want my life to be lived with you
Lived with you

There's a way everybody say
To do each and every little thing
But what does it bring
If I ain't got you, ain't got faith?

You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody
To love somebody
The way I love you

In my brain
I see your face again
I know my frame of mind
You ain't got to be so blind
And I'm blind, so, so, so very blind

I'm a man, can't you see
What I am I live and I breathe for you
But what good does it do
If I ain't got you, ain't got faith ?

You don't know what it's like, baby
You don't know what it's like
To love somebody
To love somebody
The way I love you

THE WINDMILLS OF YOUR MIND (THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, 1968)

"Left early. Please come with the money... or, you keep the car. All my love, Tommy." - Thomas Crown

In this 1968 classic caper, Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway stars as Thomas Crown and Vicki Anderson, one is a millionaire-slash-robber and the other an attractive sleuth out to catch the sly debonair. Michel Legrand composed the richly textured sound of The Windmills Of Your Mind. The song won at the Oscars and the Golden Globe for best original song. Timeless.

THE WINDMILLS OF YOUR MIND
sung by: Noel Harrison

Round like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending on beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
Like a snowball down a mountain
Or a carnival balloon
Like a carousel that's turning
Running rings around the moon
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on its face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Like a tunnel that you follow
To a tunnel of its own
Down a hollow to a cavern
Where the sun has never shone
Like a door that keeps revolving
In a half-forgotten dream
Or the ripples from a pebble
Someone tosses in a stream
Like a clock whose hands are sweeping
Past the minutes on its face
And the world is like an apple
Whirling silently in space
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

Keys that jingle in your pocket
Words that jangle in your head
Why did summer go so quickly?
Was it something that I said?
Lovers walk along a shore
And leave their footprints in the sand
Was the sound of distant drumming
Just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway
Or the fragment of a song
Half-remembered names and faces
But to whom do they belong?
When you knew that it was over
Were you suddenly aware
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair?

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending or beginning
On an ever-spinning reel
As the images unwind
Like the circles that you find
In the windmills of your mind

THE SHADOW OF YOUR SMILE (THE SANDPIPER, 1965)

"She gave men a taste of life that made them hunger for more!"
- tagline

Elizabeth Taylor and once offscreen partner Richard Burton teamed-up in the '60's tagged as 'an adult love story.' Taylor stars as Laura, a free-spirited unwed mother who falls for her son's school administrator, Episcopalian Priest Dr. Edward Hewitt (Burton) who despises her at first for being an unsuitable mother for her son. The classic The Shadow Of Your Smile sung by Tony Bennett has been awarded the Oscars for best original song and was nominated at the same category at the Golden Globe. The famous song was also recorded numerous times by other artists, old and new alike.

THE SHADOW OF YOUR SMILE
sung by: Tony Bennett

One day we walked along the sand
One day in early spring
You held a piper in your hand
To mend its broken wing
Now I'll remember many a day
And many a lonely mile
The echo of a piper's song
The shadow of a smile

The shadow of your smile
When you are gone
Will color all my dreams
And light the dawn
Look into my eyes
My love and see
All the lovely things
You are to me

Our wistful little star
Was far too high
A teardrop kissed your lips
And so did I
Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Now when I remember spring
All the joy that love can bring
I will be remembering
The shadow of your smile

THE SOUND OF SILENCE (THE GRADUATE, 1967)

"Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me." - Benjamin

One of the most popular movie theme ever is from the 1967 Mike Nichols film, The Graduate. A very young Dustin Hoffman plays Benjamin, a recent college graduate who fell in love (or lust) with Mrs. Robinson (Anne Bancroft), his father's business partner's wife. Simon & Garfunkel sung the iconic theme in the opening scene that has become a classic on its own.

THE SOUND OF SILENCE
sung by: Simon & Garfunkel

Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dare
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools" said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach to you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written
On the subway walls and tenement halls."
And whisper'd in the sounds of silence

SUICIDE IS PAINLESS (M*A*S*H, 1970)

"M*A*S*H Gives A D*A*M*N" - tagline

M*A*S*H (stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) is the story of two young surgeons Duke Forrest (Tom Skeritt) and Hawkeye Pierce's (Donald Sutherland) series of adventures as well as misadventures when they end up in the titular place during Korean War. One of the riotous film in the '70's and was the starting ground for the hugely popular series in television history. Suicide Is Painless though uncredited in artist, is one of the most iconic theme and score ever put on the big and small screen.

SUICIDE IS PAINLESS
sung by: (uncredited)

Through early morning fog I see
Visions of the things to be
The pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

I try to find a way to make
All our little joys relate
Without that ever-present hate
But now I know that it's too late, and

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
So this is all I have to say

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
And to another give my seat
For that's the only painless feat

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

A brave man once requested me
To answer questions that are key
Is it to be or not to be
And I replied 'oh why ask me?'

That suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please

'Cause suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
And I can take or leave it if I please
And you can do the same thing if you please

THE PRAYER (THE QUEST FOR CAMELOT, 1998)

“You don't understand. In Camelot, she'd only see me through their eyes. Not a knight, not a man, not anything.” – Garrett

One of the better songs heard in the animated feature film The Quest For Camelot is The Prayer. The song was nominated for best original song at the Oscar and won at the Golden Globe Award for the same category. One of the best song ever released in a soundtrack.

THE PRAYER
sung by: Andrea Bocelli

I pray you'll be our eyes

And watch us where we go
And help us to be wise
In times when we don't know

Let this be our prayer
When we lose our way
Lead us to the place
Guide us with your grace
To a place where we'll be safe

La luce che tu dai
I pray we'll find your light
Nel cuore resterà
And hold it in our hearts
A ricordarci che
When stars go out each night
L'eterna stella sei
Nella mia preghiera

Let this be our prayer
Quanta fede c'è
When shadows fill our day
Lead us to a place

Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
Sognamo un mondo senza più violenza
Un mondo di giustizia e di speranza
Ognuno dia la mano al suo vicino
Simbolo di pace e di fraternità
La forza che ci dia

We ask that life be kind
È il desiderio che
And watch us from above
Ognuno trovi amor
We hope each soul will find
Intorno e dentro a sè
Another soul to love

Let this be our prayer
Let this be our prayer
Just like every child
Just like every child
Need to find a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
E la fede che
Hai acceso in noi

THE LAST TIME I FELT LIKE THIS (SAME TIME, NEXT YEAR, 1978)

“They couldn't have celebrated happier anniversaries
if they were married to each other.” – tagline

Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn plays Doris and George who met by chance on a dinner in the inn and eventually end up sleeping together thinking what happened the night before even though they’re married to other people. Based on a Broadway production, the song which was sung by Johnny Mathis and Jane Olivor was nominated for best original song at the Oscars and the Golden Globe.

THE LAST TIME I FELT LIKE THIS
sung by: Johnny Mathis & Jane Olivor

Hello, I don't even know your name

But I'm hopin' all the same
This is more than just a simple hello
Hello, do I smile and look away?
No, I think I'll smile and stay
To see where this might go

'Cause the last time I felt like this
I was falling in love
Falling and feeling
I'd never fall in love again
Yes, the last time I felt like this
Was long before I knew
What I'm feeling now with you

Hello, I can't wait till we're alone
Somewhere quiet on our own
So that we can fall the rest of the way
I know that before the night is through
I'll be talking love to you
Meaning every word I say

'Cause the last time I felt like this
I was falling in love
Falling and feeling
I'd never fall in love again
Yes, the last time I felt like this
Was long before I knew
What I'm feeling now with you

Oh, the last time I felt like this
I was falling in love
Falling and feeling
I'd never fall in love again
Yes, the last time I felt like this
Was long before I knew
What I'm feeling now with you

THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL (THE GREATEST, 1977)

“The story of a legend that took the world by storm.” – tagline

Perhaps more known by its version from Whitney Houston, but it was in The Greatest, a sports bio-drama starring no less than Muhammad Ali himself that the song was first heard. It was in fact, intended for the said movie. George Benson made a very good rendition to capture what it takes to be ‘the greatest.’

THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL
sung by: George Benson

I believe the children are our future

Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

Everybody is searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
I never found anyone to fulfill my needs
A lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity

Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

I believe the children are our future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be

I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed
At least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity

Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all

And if by chance, that special place
That you've been dreaming of
Leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

THE DAY I FALL IN LOVE (BEETHOVEN’S 2ND, 1993)

We're not millionaires yet. Are we thousandaires?” – Emily

Beethoven’s 2nd is a fun follow-up to the adventures of Newton family who takes home a cute St. Bernard who grew up to be a very huge dog. The second installment is about the titular character having a family of his own. The ‘love scene’ is very charming in dog standard. Dolly Parton and James Ingram even managed to sung the lovely song while the scenes played out. Nice.

THE DAY I FALL IN LOVE
sung by: Dolly Parton & James Ingram

Just an ordinary day

Started out the same old way
Then I looked into your eyes and knew
Today would be a first for me
The day I fall in love

On the day I fall in love
Sky will be a perfect blue
And I'll give my heart forever more
To someone who is just like you
The day I fall in love

People all say love is wonderful
That the bells will ring
The birds will sing
The skies will open
I wonder where's that great big symphony
Roll over Beethoven
Won't you play with me

And I'll never promise to be true to anyone
Unless it's you
Unless it's you
The day I fall in love

Just an ordinary day
Started out the same old way
Then I looked into your eyes and knew
Today will be a first for me
A first for me
The day I fall in love
I know you'll be there
Ooh....I know...

The day I fall in love
HAPPY VALENTINES TO ALL!

TAKE MY BREATH AWAY (TOP GUN, 1986)

“You don't have time to think up there.
If you think, you're dead.” – Maverick

Berlin sung one of their best song Take My Breath Away that propelled both the song itself and the film to the top. The song won the best original song at the Oscars and the Golden Globe Awards.

TAKE MY BREATH AWAY
sung by: Berlin

Watching every motion in my foolish lover's game

On this endless ocean finally lovers know no shame
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion as you turn around and say

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Watching I keep waiting still anticipating love
Never hesitating to become the fated ones
Turning and returning to some secret place to hide
Watching in slow motion as you turn to me and say

Take my breath away
Through the hourglass I saw you, in time you slipped away
When the mirror crashed I called you, and turned to hear you say
If only for today I am unafraid

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

Watching every motion in this foolish lover's game
Haunted by the notion somewhere there's a love in flames
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion as you turn to me and say

Take my breath away
My love, take my breath away

TAKE ME, I’LL FOLLOW (MAC & ME, 1988)

“Eric's new in the neighborhood. Mac's new on the planet.” - tagline

Very much wanting in charm, Mac And Me follows the same route as the famous extraterrestrial did. It’s been noted in news before the said movie is just a marketing campaign to promote the famous hamburger chain. The saving grace in the movie doesn’t happened only until the ending credits, the wonderful theme Take Me, I’ll Follow sung by Bobby Caldwell.

TAKE ME, I’LL FOLLOW
sung by: Bobby Caldwell

Tired of feeling all by myself

Being so different
From everyone else
Somehow you knew
I needed your help
Be my friend forever
I never found
My star in the night
Feeling my dream was
Far from my sight
You came along and
I saw the light
We'll be friends forever

I can't face the thought of you leaving
So take me along
I swear I'll be strong
If you take me
Wherever you go
I wanna learn the things that you know
Now that you made me believe
I want you to take me
'Cause I long to be
Able to see the things that you see
Know that whatever you do
I'll follow you

Somebody must have
Sent you to me
What do I have
You could possibly need
All I can give is my guarantee
We'll be friends forever

I can't face the thought of you leaving
So take me along
I swear I'll be strong
When you take me
Wherever you go
I wanna learn the things that you know
Now that you made me believe
I want you to take me
'Cause I long to be
Able to see the things that you see
Know that whatever you do
I'll follow you

Teach me more in
Each passing hour
By your side I know I will cower
Is it true that you have the power
To capture this moment in time
Take me wherever you go
I wanna learn the things that you know
Now that you made me believe
I want you to take me
'Cause I long to be
Able to see the things that you see
Know that whatever you do
I'll follow you

I can't face the thought of you leaving
So take me alongI swear I'll be strong
If you take me
Wherever you go
I wanna learn the things that you know
Now that you made me believe
I want you to take me
'Cause I long to be
Able to see the things that you see
Know that whatever you do
I'll follow you...

SUDDENLY (XANADU, 1980)

“Have you ever heard the expression "kissed by a muse"?
Well, that's what I am. I'm a muse.” – Kira

Olivia Newton-John and musical legend Gene Kelly star in a somewhat surreal musical, Xanadu. Gene Kelly is Danny McGuire, an older gentleman who sits on a rock by the ocean playing a clarinet who then sets a club with Sonny Malone (Michael Beck), who ‘discovers’ Kira (Olivia Newton-John) through a painting, a sort of modern day Greek muse. Suddenly is one of Newton-John’s best remembered duets post Grease. Catchy and addictive.

SUDDENLY
sung by: Olivia Newton-John & Cliff Richard

She walks in I'm suddenly a hero

I'm taken in my hopes begin to rise
Look at me can't you tell I'd be so
Thrilled to see the message in your eyes
You make it seem I'm so close to my dream
And then suddenly it's all there

Suddenly the wheels are in motion
And I, I'm ready to sail any ocean
Suddenly I don't need the answers
’Cause I, I'm ready to take all my chances with you

How can I feel you're all that matters
I'd rely on anything you say
I'll take care that no illusions shatter
If you dare to say what you should say
You make it seem I'm so close to my dream
And then suddenly it's all there

Suddenly the wheels are in motion
And I, I'm ready to sail any ocean
Suddenly I don't need the answers
’Cause I, I'm ready to take all my chances with you

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Why do I feel so alive when you're near
There's no way any hurt can get through
Longing to spend every moment of the day with you

Suddenly the wheels are in motion
And I I'm ready to sail any ocean
Suddenly I don't need the answers
’Cause I, I'm ready to take all my chances with you

STREETS OF PHILADELPHIA (PHILADELPHIA, 1993)

“That's their story. Wanna hear mine?” – Andrew Beckett

Bruce Springsteen faithfully captures the essence of the film Philadelphia through his award-winning song, Streets Of Philadelphia. It’s the story of Andrew Beckett (wonderful performance from Tom Hanks) a lawyer inflicted with AIDS and suffers discrimination until a homophobic Lawyer Joe Miller (Denzel Washington) defends his case. The song won the Oscars and the Golden Globe for best original song.

STREETS OF PHILADELPHIA
sung by: Bruce Springsteen

I was bruised and battered and I couldn't tell what I felt

I was unrecognizable to myself
Saw my reflection in a window I didn't know my own face
Oh brother, are you gonna leave me wasting away
On the streets of Philadelphia

I walked the avenue till my legs felt like stone
I heard the voices of friends vanished and gone
At night I could hear the blood in my veins
Just as black and whispering as the rain
On the streets of Philadelphia

Ain't no angel gonna greet me
It's just you and I my friend
And my clothes don't fit me no more
I walked a thousand miles just to slip this skin

The night has fallen, I'm lyin' awake
I can feel myself fading away
So receive me brother with your faithless kiss
Or will we leave each other alone like this
On the streets of Philadelphia

STAY (REALITY BITES, 1994)

“A comedy about love in the '90s.” - tagline

Funnyman Ben Stiller directed a pleasing story of Lelaina (Wynona Ryder), a college valedictorian who camcords her friends Vickie (Janeane Garofalo), Sammy (Steve Zahn) and Troy (Ethan Hawke) to study about the manners of the Generation X. A nice set of music round up the soundtrack. From classic to contemporary.

STAY
sung by: Lisa Loeb & Nine Stories

You say I only hear what I want to

You say I talk so all the time so

And I thought what I felt was simple
And I thought that I don't belong
And now that I am leaving
Now I know that I did something wrong 'cause I missed you
Yeah yeah, I missed you

You say I only hear what I want to
I don't listen hard, don't pay attention
To the distance that you're running
To anyone, anywhere
I don't understand if you really care, I'm only hearing negative
No, No, No, Bad

So I, I turned the radio on, I turned the radio up (turn the radio)
And this woman was singing my song
Lover's in love and the other's run away
Lover is crying 'cause the other won't stay
Some of us hover when we weep for the other who was
Dying since the day they were born
Well, well, this is not thatI think that I'm throwing, but I'm thrown

And I thought I'd live forever, but now I'm not so sure
You try to tell me that I'm clever
But that won't take me anyhow, or anywhere with you
You said that I was naive and I thought that I was strong
I thought, "hey, I can leave, I can leave.
"Oh, but now I know that I was wrong, 'cause I missed you
Yeah, I miss you

You said, "You caught me 'cause you want me
and one day you'll let me go
"You try to give away a keeper, or keep me
'Cause you know you're just so scared to lose
And you say, "Stay"

You say I only hear what I want to

STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO ME
sung by: Karla Bonoff

Love is like the wind

Sometimes it blows your way
And until now
It missed me somehow

But when I turned around
I saw you standing there
The sound of your voice
I had no choice

I used to have a wish
One day I'd feel like this
Now I know love exists
'Cause it's standing right next to me

Beneath the moon tonight
I see it in your eyes
No more false starts
No more broken hearts

I used to have a wish
One day I'd feel like this
Now I know love exists
'Cause it's standing right next to me

Even in the dark
Even when you're gone
I feel you in my heart

I used to have a wish
One day I'd feel like this
Now I know love exists
'Cause it's standing right next to me

Standing right next to me
