NEVER SAY DIE (IRON EAGLE, 1986)

"Break the sound barrier. Break the speed barrier." - tagline

King Kobra's Never Say Die is a riproaring tune from the '80s movie Iron Eagle. The action flick stars Louis Gossett, Jr as Col. Charles 'Chappy' Sinclair and Jason Gedrick as Doug Masters who's on a mission to save his father, an Air Force Pilot.

NEVER SAY DIE

sung by: King Kobra

I can do anything when I choose

Got everything but I got nothing to lose

Go anywhere from heaven to hell

I might find the devil you can never tell

There’s a thousand hills and valleys

A million dams and streams

An ocean of eternity

Between my hopes and dreams

Never say die, Iron Eagle

Nothing’s forever, now or ever

Never say die, Iron Eagle

Never look back, never say die

Don’t try and bring my soul to the ground

My spirit remembers old mountain magic sounds

Against all odds, I’ll come out on top

'Cause I never learned the meaning of what meant stop

There are walls and there are bridges

But no problems when you’re free

An adventure past the horizon

Always beckons me

Never say die, Iron Eagle

Nothing’s forever, now or ever

Never say die, Iron Eagle

Never look back, never say die

(INSTRUMENTAL)

There are walls and there are bridges

But no problems when you’re free

An adventure past the horizon

Always beckons me

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Never say die, Iron Eagle

Never look back, never say die

Never say die, Iron Eagle

Nothing’s forever, now or ever

Never say die, Iron Eagle

Never look back, never say die

Never say die, Iron Eagle

Nothing’s forever, now or ever

Never say die, Iron Eagle

Never look back, never say die

MY RIFLE, MY PONY AND ME (RIO BRAVO, 1959)

Rio Bravo, one of the famous western flicks among aficionados of the genre stars the legendary John Wayne. The film also star Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson who also sang together the wistful My Rifle, My Pony And Me in one of the film's scene.

MY RIFLE, MY PONY AND ME

sung by: Dean Martin & Ricky Nelson

Sun is sinking in the west

The cattle go down to the stream

The redwing settles in the nest

It’s time for a cowboy to dream

Purple light in the canyon

That is where I long to be

With my three good companions

Just my rifle, pony and me

Gonna hang my sombrero

On the limb of a tree

Coming home sweet my darling

Just my rifle, pony and me

Whippoorwill in the willow

Sings a sweet melody

Riding to Amarillo

Just my rifle, pony and me

No more cows to be ropin

No more strays will I see

'Round the bend she’ll be waitin’

For my rifle, pony and me

For my rifle, my pony and me

MY LITTLE GIRL (FLICKA, 2006)

Country superstar Tim McGraw acted and sang the heartfelt My Little Girl from the 2006 film, Flicka. The film is about a young girl Katie (Alison Lohman) who wants to prove to her father (Tim McGraw) she can run their family ranch some day by taming a wild horse as her own.

MY LITTLE GIRL

sung by: Tim McGraw

Gotta hold on easy as I let you go

Gonna tell you how much I love you

Though you think you already know

I remember I thought you looked like an angel

Wrapped in pink, so soft and warm

You’ve had me wrapped around your finger

Since the day you were born

You beautiful baby from the outside in

Chase your dreams but always know the road

That’ll lead you home again

Go on, take on this whole world

But to me you know you’ll always be

My little girl

When you were in trouble that crooked little smile

Could melt my heart of stone

Now look at you, I’ve turned around

And you’ve almost grown

Sometimes you’re asleep I whisper ‘I love you’

In the moonlight at your door

As I walk away, I hear you say’Daddy, love you more’

You beautiful baby from the outside in

Chase your dreams but always know the road

That’ll lead you home again

Go on, take on this whole world

But to me you know you’ll always be

My little girl

Someday, some boy will come

And ask me for your hand

But I won’t say yes to him unless I know

He’s the half that makes you whole

He has a poet’s soul, and the heart of a man’s man

I know he’ll say that he’s in love

But between you and me

He won’t be good enough

You beautiful baby from the outside in

Chase your dreams but always know the road

That’ll lead you home again

Go on, take on this whole world

But to me you know you’ll always be

My little girl

OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNIN’ (OKLAHOMA!, 1955)

Oklahoma! is just one of the numerous Rodgers and Hammerstein's movie-musical production. The story centers around a two cowboys (Gordon McRae and Rod Steiger) who vie for the affection of young women. One of them is a prairie lady named Laurey (Shirley Jones). The late McRae as the good natured Curly sang the iconic and cheery Oh, What A Beautiful Mornin'.

OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNIN’
sung by: Gordon MacRae

There’s a bright golden haze on the meadow

There’s a bright golden haze on the meadow

The corn is as high as an elephant’s eye

And it looks like it’s climbin’ clear up to the sky

Oh, what a beautiful morning

Oh, what a beautiful day

I’ve got a beautiful feeling

Everything’s going my way

All the sounds of the earth are like music

All the sounds of the earth are like music

The breeze is so busy it don’t miss a tree

And an ol’ Weepin’ Willer is laughin’ at me

Oh, what a beautiful morning

Oh, what a beautiful day

I’ve got a beautiful feeling

Everything’s going my way
Oohh, what a beautiful day

JUMP IN THE LINE (BEETLEJUICE, 1988)

Director Tim Burton's earlier effort is an entertaining and at most times a surreal journey into the world of one naughty ghost named Beetlejuice (just don't call his name thrice in a row!). Michael Keaton, more popular as Burton's version of Batman plays the titular character, he gets to act crazy in a phantasmic way. Cool songs were also heard throughout the film, the end scene when Lydia (Winona Ryder) floats and dances into Harry Belafonte's Jump In The Line song is pure Burton fun.

JUMP IN THE LINE

(SHAKE, SHAKE SENORA)

sung by: Harry Belafonte

Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake your body line

Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake it all the time

Work, work, work, Senora, work your body line

Work, work, work, Senora, work it all the time

My girl's name is Senora

I tell you friends, I adore her

And when she dances, oh brother!

She's a hurricane in all kinds of weather

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

OK, I believe you!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

OK, I believe you!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake your body line

Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake it all the time

Work, work, work, Senora, work your body line

Work, work, work, Senora, work it all the time

You can talk about Cha Cha

Tango, Waltz, or de Rumba

Senora's dance has no title

You jump in the saddle

Hold on to de bridle!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

OK, I believe you!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

Rock your body, child!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

Somebody, help me!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

Whoa!

Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake your body line

Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake it all the time

(Whoa)

Work, work, work, Senora, work your body line

(Yep)

Work, work, work, Senora, work it all the time

Senora, she's a sensation

The reason for aviation

And fellas, you got to watch it

When she wind up, she bottom, she go like a rocket!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

OK, I believe you!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

Hoist those skirts a little higher!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

Up the chim-en-y!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

Whoa oh oh oh!

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Shake, shake, shake, Senora

Shake your body line

Work, work, work, Senora

Work it all the time

Dance, dance, dance, Senora

Dance it all the time

Work, work, work, Senora

Work it all the time

Senora dances Calypso

Left to right is de tempo

And when she gets the sensation

She go up in the air, come down in slow motion

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

OK, I believe you!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

Somebody, help me!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

OK, I believe you!

(Jump in de line, rock your body in time)

Whooooa!

Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake your body line

Shake, shake, shake, Senora, shake it all the time

Work, work, work, Senora!!

ONE UPON A TIME (BEYOND THE SEA, 2004)

Oscar Winner Kevin Spacey gets to portray the iconic Bobby Darin, one of his dream roles. In Beyond The Sea, (the movie title culled from one of Darin's signature songs) Spacey's Bobby traces back the life of the famous singer from being a nobody to a total entertainer. Spacey is simply amazing as he uncannily resembles Bobby Darin!

ONCE UPON A TIME

sung by: Kevin Spacey

Once upon a time

A girl with moonlight in her eyes

Put her hand in mine

And said she loved me so

But that was once upon a time
Very long ago

Once upon a time

We sat beneath a willow tree

Counting all the stars

And waiting for the dawn

But that was once upon a time

Now the tree is gone

How the breeze ruffled through her hair

How we always laughed

As though tomorrow wasn’t there

We were young

And didn’t have a care

Where did it go?

Once upon a time

The world was sweeter than we knew

Everything was ours

How happy we were then

But somehow once upon a time

Never comes again

MY HEART AND SOUL (HEART AND SOULS, 1993

Funny yet heartwarming best describes 1993's Heart And Souls. Starring Robert Downey, Jr. as Thomas Reilly, a yuppie who must help four lost souls (Charles Grodin, Alfre Woodard, Kyra Sedgwick and Tom Sizemore) to settle their unfinished business who also became his guardians the moment he was born. Stephen Bishop, veteran for singing movie themes sang once again another theme called My Heart And Souls. A feel-good song with a feel-good theme.

MY HEART AND SOUL

sung by: Stephen Bishop

The years they come and go

And change will come I know

You won’t be there

My heart and soul

Different time and place

The time cannot erase

The smile that lights your face

As you gaze in mine

It will always shine

And you will always be

An angel making sure I can

A memory that’s always there

Your dreams won’t die if they live inside of me

You’ll always be my heart and soul

The years go long and on

I looked and you were gone

I miss you so

My heart and soul

The years can make you wise

I finally realize

That if I just close my eyes

I can see all there

From the love we share

And you will always be

A dream so real it cannot die

A trust in faith that lets me fly

A thought so strong it just belongs to me

You’ll always be my heart and soul

An angel making sure I can

A memory that’s always there

You’ll always be my heart and soul

MORE THAN A WOMAN (SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, 1977)

Here's another two themes:

Perhaps the definitive disco movie ever made was 1977's Saturday Night Fever. Lead star John Travolta make waves as Tony Manero, an average joe who becomes the King of the dance floor every Saturday night in their local disco. Travolta earned nominations for acting both for the Oscars and the Golden Globe. Bee Gees songs has become the staple in every dance spots when their songs has been part of the successful film soundtrack. One of their very popular song featured in the film is More Than A Woman.

MORE THAN A WOMAN

sung by: Bee Gees

Oh, girl I’ve known you very well
I’ve seen you growing everyday
I never really looked before
But now you take my breath away

Suddenly you’re in my life
Part of everything I do
You got me working day and night
Just trying to keep a hold on you

Here in your arms I found my paradise
My only chance for happiness
And if I lose you now I think I would die

Oh say you’ll always be my baby
We can make it shine, we can take forever
Just a minute at a time
Oh, oh, oh

More than a woman, more than a woman to me
More than a woman, more
than a woman to me
Oh, oh, oh

There are stories old and true
Of people so in love like you and me
And I can see myself
Let history repeat itself

Reflecting how I feel for you
Thinking of
those people then
I know that in a thousand years
I’d fall in love with you again

This is the only way that we should fly
This is the only way to go
And if I lose your love I know I would die

Oh say you’ll always be my baby
We can make it shine, we can take forever
Just a minute at a time
Oh, oh, oh, oh

More than a woman, more than a woman to me
More than a woman, more than a woman to me
More than a woman, more than a woman to me
More than a woman, more than a woman to me……..

MOONLIGHT BECOMES YOU (ROAD TO MOROCCO, 1942)

Screen Legends Bing Crosby and Bob Hope star in 1942's Road To Morocco. They play Jeff and 'Turkey', two spirited castaways on the road to well, Morocco. Dorothy Lamour plays Shalmar, the princess the two castaways both long for. Crosby himself sang the classic and timeless Moonlight Becomes You.

MOONLIGHT BECOMES YOU
sung by: Bing Crosby

Moonlight becomes you

It goes with your hair

You certainly know the right thing to wear

Moonlight becomes you

I’m thrilled at the sight

And I could get so romantic tonight

You’re all dressed up to go dreaming

Now don’t tell me I’m wrong

And what a night to go dreaming

Mind if I tag along

If I say I love you

I want you to know

It’s not just because there’s moonlight

Although, moonlight becomes you so

(INSTRUMENTAL/WHISTLE)

Moonlight becomes you

What a beautiful view

Moonlight with you

You’re all dressed up to go dreaming

Now don’t tell me I’m wrong

And what a night to go dreaming

Mind if I tag along

If I say I love you

I want you to know

It’s not just because there’s moonlight

Although, moonlight becomes you so

MAYBE THIS TIME (CABARET, 1972)

One of the iconic roles in Hollywood cinema Sally Bowles was portrayed by no less an icon herself, Liza Minelli in the musical motion picture, Cabaret. She plays a club entertainer who falls for two men during the Weimar Republic era in Berlin. Minnelli sang one of her famous songs in the film, Maybe This Time.

MAYBE THIS TIME

sung by: Liza Minnelli

Maybe this time, I’ll be lucky

Maybe this time, he’ll stay

Maybe this time

For the first time

Love won’t hurry away

He will hold me fast

I’ll be home at last

Not a loser anymore

Like the last time

And the time before

Everybody loves a winner

So nobody loved me

'Lady Peaceful,' 'Lady Happy'

That’s what I long to be

All the odds are in my favor

Something’s bound to begin

It’s got to happen, happen sometime

Maybe this time I’ll win…

NEW DIVIDE (TRANSFORMERS, 2007)

'80s very popular toy line Transformers and its t.v. cartoon series gets an upgrade in the new millienium via the 2007 motion picture. Produced by no less than Steven Spielberg himself, the movie presented the all-time war between the Autobots and Decepticons. Linkin Park sang the ultra-cool main theme, New Divide.

NEW DIVIDE

sung by: Linkin Park

I remembered black skies

The lightning all around me

I remembered each flash

As time began to blur

Like a startling sign

That fate had finally found me

And your voice was all I heard

That I get what I deserve

So give me reason

To prove me wrong

To wash this memory clean

Let the floods cross

The distance in your eyes

Give me reason

To fill this hole

Connect this space between

Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies

Across this new divide

There was nothing inside

The memories left abandoned

There was nowhere to hide

The ashes fell like snow

And the ground caved in

Between where we were standing

And your voice was all I heard

That I get what I deserve

So give me reason

To prove me wrong

To wash this memory clean

Let the floods cross

The distance in your eyes

Across this new divide

In every loss in every lie

In every truth that you deny

And each regret and each goodbye

Was a mistake too great to hide

And your voice was all I heard

That I get what I deserve

So give me reason

To prove me wrong

To wash this memory clean

Let the floods cross

The distance in your eyes

Give me reason

To fill this hole

Connect this space between

Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies

Across this new divide

Across this new divide

Across this new divide

O CHILDREN (HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS, 2010)

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part One needs no further introduction. And most will remember the dancing scene inside the tent of Harry and Hermione (albeit awkward) when Ron left them by themselves. And the song they danced to is by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, the slow and quite somber O Children.

O CHILDREN
sung by: Nick Cave And the Bad Seeds

Pass me that lovely little gun

My dear, my darling one

The cleaners are coming, one by one

You don't even want to let them start

They are knocking now upon your door

They measure the room, they know the score

They're mopping up the butcher's floor

Of your broken little hearts

O children

Forgive us now for what we've done

It started out as a bit of fun

Here, take these before we run away

The keys to the gulag

O children

Lift up your voice, lift up your voice

Children

Rejoice, rejoice

C'mon, c'mon, c'mon

Here comes Frank and poor old Jim

They're gatherin' round with all my friends

We're older now, the light is dim

And you are only just beginning

O children

We have the answer to all your fears

It's short, it's simple, it's crystal clear

It's round about and it's somewhere here

Lost amongst our winnings

O children

Lift up your voice, lift up your voice

Children

Rejoice, rejoice

The cleaners have done their job on you

They're hip to it, man, they're in the groove

They've hosed you down, you're good as new

They're lining up to inspect you

O children

Poor old Jim's white as a ghost

He's found the answer that we lost

We're all weeping now, weeping because

There ain't nothing we can do to protect you

O children

Lift up your voice, lift up your voice

Children

Rejoice, rejoice

Hey little train! We are all jumping on

The train that goes to the Kingdom

We're happy, Ma, we're having fun

And the train ain't even left the station

Hey, little train! Wait for me!

I once was blind but now I see

Have you left a seat for me?

Is that such a stretch of the imagination?

Hey little train! Wait for me!

I was held in chains but now I'm free

I'm hanging in there, don't you see

In this process of elimination

Hey little train! We are all jumping on

The train that goes to the Kingdom

We're happy, Ma, we're having fun

It's beyond my wildest expectation

Hey little train! We are all jumping on

The train that goes to the Kingdom

We're happy, Ma, we're having fun

And the train ain't even left the station

MY SWEET, ETERNAL LOVE (THE MUMMY TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR, 2008)

The third installment of The Mummy series is easily the weakest entry. Subtitled Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor, the story has an ancient chinese emperor (Jet Li) cursed by a witch and came back as (what else) mummy to wreak havoc in the life of Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) and his family. A single scene stood out when the song My Sweet, Eternal Love sang by Helen Feng was heard during the bar scene.

MY SWEET, ETERNAL LOVE

sung by: Helen Feng

Before you, my life was so secure

Without allure and far too sure

Into my lap you fell

Like an angel straight from hell

You came into my world as a sweet surprise

In my eyes you have no disguise

In your arms I lost paradise

My sweet, Eternal love

My sweet, Infernal love

My sweet, Eternal love

Your touch scorched me with luscious fire

And the strange desire

To possess your soul entire

But your heart made mine alive

My sweet, Infernal love

My sweet, Eternal love

My sweet, Infernal love

Now we told ourselves to forget the past

The reach should not exceed the grasp

And nothing true can ever last

Except our words of pain and our hearts of lust

My sweet, Eternal love

My sweet, Infernal love

My Eternal, Infernal love

MALAGUENA SALEROSA (KILL BILL VOL. 2, 2004)

Author's Note: Missed out July 17's entry. Here are the two entries.

Kill Bill Vol.2, the second part of perhaps the ultimate revenge drama ever made nevertheless gave another great soundtrack. Chingon provided the end theme in the movie, Malaguena Salerosa. Well-put out!

MALAGUENA SALEROSA
sung by: Chingon

Que bonitos ojos tienes

Debajo de ésas dos cejas

Debajo de ésas dos cejas
Que bonitos ojos tienes

Ellos me quieren mirar

Pero si tú no los dejas

Pero si tú no los dejas

Ni siquiera parpadear

Malagueña salerosa

Besar tus labios quisiera

Besar tus labios quisiera

Malagueña salerosa

Y decirte niña hermosa

Que eres lin........da y hechicera

Que eres linda y hechicera

Como el candor de una rosa

Si por pobre me desprecias

Yo te concedo razon

Yo te concedo razon

Si por pobre me desprecias

Yo no te ofrezco riquezas

Te ofrezco mi corazón

Te ofrezco mi corazón

A cámbio de mi pobreza

Malagueña salerosa

Besar tus labios quisiera

Besar tus labios quisiera

Malagueña salerosa

Y decirte niña hermosa

Que eres lin........da y hechicera

Que eres linda y hechicera

Como el candor de una rosa

Y decirte niña hermosa

MAGIC WORKS (HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE, 2005)

One of the memorable scene in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire was the prom in Hogwarts. Viewers and fans especially witness the transformation of Hermione into a beautiful belle that surprised Harry and Ron Weasley more than anybody else. The song heard during the dance scene is Magic Works.

MAGIC WORKS
sung by: Jason Buckle, Steve Claydon, Jarvis Cocker, Jonny Greenwood, Steve Mackey, Phil Selway

And dance your final dance

This is your final chance

To hold the one you love

You know you've waited long enough

So,

Believe that magic works

Don't be afraid

Of bein' hurt

Don't let this magic die

The answer's there

Oh, just look in her eyes

And makeYour final move

Mmm, don't be scared

She wants you to

It's hard

You must be brave

Don't let this moment slip the way

Believe that magic works

Don't be afraid
Afraid of bein' hurt

No, don't let this magic die

Ooh, the answer's there

Yeah, just look in her eyes

And don't believe that magic can die

No, no, no, this magic can't die

So dance, your final dance.

'Cause this is, your final chance

LYIN' EYES (URBAN COWBOY, 1980)

Urban Cowboy, one of John Travolta's early fare is the story of a young "cowboy" Bud Davis who goes to Gilley's, Houston's famed nightclub. There he meets Sissy (the stunningly beautiful Debra Winger) who fancies him as the 'real thing'. Scott Glenn co-stars. The Eagles sang just one of their popular songs in , Lyin' Eyes.

LYIN' EYES
sung by: Eagles

City girls just seem to find out early

How to open doors with just a smile

A rich old man

And she won't have to worry

She'll dress up all in lace and go in style

Late at night a big old house gets lonely

I guess ev'ry form of refuge has its price

And it breaks her heart to think her love is

Only given to a man with hands as cold as ice

So she tells him she must go out for the evening

To comfort an old friend who's feelin' down

But he knows where she's goin' as she's leavin'

She is headed for the cheatin' side of town

You can't hide your lyin' eyes

And your smile is a thin disguise

I thought by now you'd realize

There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes

On the other side of town a boy is waiting

With fiery eyes and dreams no one could steal

She drives on through the nice anticipating

'Cause he makes her feel the way she used to feel

She rushes to his arms

They fall together

She whispers that it's only for awhile

She swears that soon she'll be comin' back forever

She pulls away and leaves him with a smile

You can't hide your lyin' eyes

And your smile is a thin disguise

I thought by now you'd realize

There ain't no way to hide you lyin' eyes

She gets up and pours herself a strong one

And stares out at the stars up in the sky

Another night, it's gonna be a long one

She draws the shade and hangs her head to cry

She wonders how it ever got this crazy

She thinks about a boy she knew in school

Did she get tired or did she just get lazy?

She's so far gone she feels just like a fool

My, oh my, you sure know how to arrange things

You set it up so well, so carefully

Ain't it funny how your new life didn't change things

You're still the same old girl you used to be

You can't hide your lyin eyes

And your smile is a thin disguise

I thought by now you'd realize

There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes

There ain't no way to hide your lyin' eyes

Honey, you can't hide your lyin' eyes

LOVING YOU IS ALL I KNOW (THE OTHER SISTER, 1999)

The Other Sister is feel-good story of two mentally-challenged young people who fell in love and decide they want to make it on their own. Juliette Lewis and Giovanni Ribisi plays Carla and Daniel who play their characters to a tee. The film also boasts of great tunes both old and new. One of the songs featured is the wonderful song Loving You Is All I Know by The Pretenders.

LOVING YOU IS ALL I KNOW

sung by: The Pretenders

I don't understand how the sun keeps shining

And I don't understand why the seasons change

And I don't have a clue, what makes the rivers flow

Loving you is all I know

I cant tell you why stars come out in the evening

And I cant tell you where they go when there gone

And I don't have a clue, what makes a flower grow

Loving you is all I know

I don't know how the world keeps on spinning round

I don't know why the sky don't come falling down

I just know that I would die without your touch

I don't know why the tide needs to reach the shore

I just know that I'll need you for, forever more

Knowing that I guess I know enough

I can't really say if there is a heaven

But I feel like it's here when I feel you near me baby

If angels are real, they must know how I feel

'Cause loving you Is all I know

I don't know how the world keeps on spinning round

I don't know why the sky don't come falling down

I just know that I would die without your touch

I don't know why the tide needs to reach the shore

I just know that I'll need you for, forever more

Knowing that I guess I know enough

I don't understand how the sun keeps shining

I don't understand why the seasons changin', changin', changin'

I don't have a clue, what makes the rivers flow

And loving you is all I know

(is all I know, is all I know, is all I know)

Loving you is all I know

LOVING STRANGERS (NOTHING IN COMMON, 1986)

Christopher Cross once again lent his voice to render one of the themes from the movie Nothing In Common, Loving Strangers. In this '80s dramedy, Tom Hanks plays David Basner, a successful ad man who must struggle to keep his sanity when his parents broke-up. Jackie Gleason and screen legend Eva Marie Saint plays his warring parents Max and Lorraine.

LOVING STRANGERS
sung by: Christopher Cross

Young and free, kicking the fences down

Somewhere hearts are breaking

But he can't hear the sound

They got nothin' in common

He smiles away on the wings of a dream

He's all caught up in that world of his

She says I'm gonna miss you but I can't live like this

We got nothin' in common

So sad to say it has to be this way

Everyone on a road of their own

Everyone gotta find a heart a home

Loving strangers - that's you and me

Gonna have the way to love, give a little honesty

('Cause they got nothing in common)

I can feel there's a hope on the wind

The sound of your voice - I think I hear a friend

We got nothin' in common

I know we don't, but it won't stay that way

Everyone on a road of their own

Everyone gotta find a heart a home

Loving strangers - that's you and me

Give a way to love, give a little honesty

Everybody needs to know if there will somewhere

Someday be someone to call their own

Everybody needs to hope that there will one day come

A someone just in time

Everyone on a road of their own

Everyone gotta find a heart a home

Loving strangers - that's you and me

Give a way to love, give a little honesty

'Cause we got nothing in common

'Cause we got nothing in common

'Cause we got nothing in common

'Cause we got nothing in common

LOVE WILL SHOW YOU EVERYTHING (IF ONLY, 2004)

Jennifer Love Hewitt stars in what could be her most famous movie (aside from I Know What You Did Last Summer series), If Only. She plays Samantha Andrews, a musician who dies in an accident while having a row with her fiance, Ian Wyndham (Paul Nicholls). Ian, in a twist of fate, gets to relive the day with Samantha with unexpected results. A weeper of a movie, to say the least. Hewitt herself sang one of the theme from the movie, Love Will Show You Everything.

LOVE WILL SHOW YOU EVERYTHING
sung by: Jennifer Love Hewitt

Today,

Today I bet my life

You have no idea

What I feel inside

Don't, be afraid to let it show

For you never know

If you let it hide

I love you, you love me

Take this gift and don't ask why

'Cause if you, will let me

I'll take what scares you and hold it deep inside

And if you, ask me why

I'm with you and why I'll never leave

Love will show you everything

One day,

When youth is just a memory

I know,

You'll be standing right next to me

I love you, you love me

Take this gift and don't ask why

'Cause if you, will let me

I'll take what scares you and hold it deep inside

And if you, ask me why

I'm with you and why I'll never leave

My love will show you everything

My love will show you every - thing, thing

My love will show you, everything

Our love will show us everything

LOVE WILL SET YOU FREE (SOLARBABIES, 1986)

Solarbabies made in 1986 is sort of an underrated (and cult classic) sci-fi flick made for teens at that time. The story centers around a group of orphaned teenagers lead by Jason (Jason Patric) who play a hockey-based game on roller skates and the special orb with unique results among the group. Smokey Robinson sang the main theme of the movie, Love Will Set You Free.

LOVE WILL SET YOU FREE
sung by: Smokey Robinson

This is the right time, if you've been confused

It's in a lifetime, it's up to you to choose

So much happening, still you have a choice

He gave you his word, and if you hear his voice

Love will set you free (love will set you free)

Love will set you free (love will set you free)

Weary of wonder, imprisoned in your doubt

Love and thunder, your heart is crying out

Don't you know that now you're standing

In the danger zone (in the danger zone)

But love won't leave you, to ever stand alone

Love will set you free (love will set you free)

He said, come follow me and where we go

(Come follow me and where we go)

You can reap every dream you sow

(You can reap every dream you sow)

Nothing's impossible, when you believe

Come follow me and you'll be free

(Free free, free free)

Folloooooow, follow follow

Folloooooow, follow

Well sometimes, sunshine (sometimes sunshine)

Can be cold and gray (cold and gray)

But love will warm you, let them lead the way

Love will set you free (Free free, free free)

He said come follow me and where we go

(Come follow me and where we go)

You can reap every dream you sow

(You can reap every dream you sow)

Nothing's impossible, when you believe

Come follow me and you'll be free

(Free free, free free)

Come follow me and you'll be free (freeee)...

LOVE TOUCH (LEGAL EAGLES, 1986)

A legal dramedy, Legal Eagles is the story of District Attorney Tom Logan (Robert Redford) on the way up but got involved with two women in the process. One by the name of Laura Kelly (Debra Winger), a defence lawyer and the other, by the name of Chelsea Deardon (Daryll Hannah), Kelley's client. Three's a crowd and hilarity ensues. Rod Stewart sang the main theme of the movie, Love Touch.

LOVE TOUCH
sung by: Rod Stewart

Oh, baby, I don't know why

But somehow I always seem to

Get tangled up in my pride

But oh, baby, we're not that blind

Deep down inside you know

This love's worth one more try

Don't push it all aside

'Cause I wanna be good for you

I didn't mean to be bad

But darlin' I'm still the best

That you ever had

Just give me a chance

To let me show you how much

I wanna give you my love touch

I wanna give you my love touch

(love touch, touch)

Why can't I climb your walls

And find somewhere to hide

Can't I knock down your door

And drag myself inside

I'll light your candles baby

And maybe I'll light your life

I wanna feel the breathless end

You come to every night

This ever changing love

Is pushing me too far

I feel the need to reach you

Right now wherever you are

These empty arms are getting stronge every day

Believe me baby

They won't let you get away

No, they won't let you get away

'Cause I wanna be good for you

I didn't mean to be bad

But darlin' I'm still the best

That you ever had

Just give me a chance

To let me show you how much

I wanna give you my love touch

I wanna give you my love touch

(love touch, love touch)

You know it don't matter

Who's right who's wrong

Think we're gonna find out

If the love is strong

Just give me a chance

To win back your trust

I wanna give you my love touch love touch

(Oh you're gonna get a, oh you're gonna get a big love touch)
