BE (JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL, 1973)

Based on the bestselling book by Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull tells the story of one seagull Jonathan who goes beyond the usual way of flying and opted to make adventurous techniques. In return, he was exiled. Neil Diamond sang one of the songs in the film, Be.

BE
sung by: Neil Diamond

Lost
On a painted sky
Where the clouds are hung
For the poet’s eye
You may find him
If you may find him

There
On a distant shore
By the wings of dreams
Through an open door
You may know him
If you may

Be
As a page that aches for words
Which speaks on a theme that is timeless
And the one God will make for your day
Sing
As a song in search of a voice that is silent
And the sun God will make for your way

And we dance
To a whispered voice
Overheard by the soul
Undertook by the heart
And you may know it
If you may know it
While the sand
Would become the stone
Which begat the spark
Turned to living bone
Holy, holy
Sanctus, sanctus

Be
As a page that aches for words
Which speaks on a theme that is timeless
And the one God will make for your day
Sing
As a song in search of a voice that is silent
And the sun God will make for your way

AREN'T YOU GLAD YOU'RE YOU (THE BELLS OF ST. MARY'S, 1945)

The sequel to the classic Going My Way, Crooner Bing Crosby returns as Father Chuck O'Malley at friendly rivalry with Sister Mary Benedict played by the eternal graceful, Ingrid Bergman. Crosby sang the classic Aren't You Glad You're You?

AREN’T YOU GLAD YOU’RE YOU
sung by: Bing Crosby

Every time you’re near a rose
Aren’t you glad you’ve got a nose
And if the dawn is fresh with dew
Aren’t you glad you’re you

When a meadowlark appears
Aren’t you glad you’ve got two ears
And if your heart is singin’ too
Aren’t you glad you’re you

You can see a summer sky
Or touch a friendly hand
Or taste an apple pie
Pardon the grammar, but ain’t life grand

And when you wake up each morn
Aren’t you glad that you were born
Think what you’ve got the whole day through
Aren’t you glad you’re you

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Every time you’re near a rose
Aren’t you glad you’ve got a nose
And if the dawn is fresh with dew
Aren’t you glad you’re you

When a meadowlark appears
Aren’t you glad you’ve got two ears
And if your heart is singin’ too
Aren’t you glad you’re you

You can see a summer sky
Or touch a friendly hand
Or taste an apple pie
Pardon the grammar, but ain’t life grand

And when you wake up each morn
Aren’t you glad that you were born
Think what you’ve got the whole day through
Aren’t you glad you’re you

ANOTHER SIDE OF ME (THE LEGACY, 1978)

One of those rare occasions when a horror/mystery has a very sweet movie theme. The Legacy's title track Another Side Of Me was sang by Kiki Dee and was heard during the opening credits. The film is about a cursed inheritance that befell the two couple among others.

ANOTHER SIDE OF ME
sung by: Kiki Dee

I’m going back
Across the sky
To places I have never been
But something seems to be
Slowly drawing me away
And that’s what come what may

I’m going back
To faces I have never seen
To feel the freedom
Of a sweet clear winter’s golden day
The sunset stained with gold

A love that never grows cold
While you’re the hand that I hold
I’ll face my years to be

And we may find
That as the story is told
We’ll watch the future unfold
Another side of me

I’m going back
Unless I’m sure
I need you more than ever now

And through the distance
We’ll see things in another light
If we just raise our sights

And looking back
We’ll understand it all somehow
Today, forever and beyond
Together we will see
Another side of me

ANYONE ELSE BUT YOU (JUNO, 2007)

Juno, one of the acclaimed movies of 2007 is about teen pregnancy starring Ellen Page as Juno herself. Before the movie ends, lead Page and Michael Cera (Paulie) sang the somewhat unusual yet touching duet titled Anyone Else But You.

ANYONE ELSE BUT YOU
sung by: Michael Cera & Ellen Page
(Paulie & Juno)

PAULIE:
You’re a part time lover and a full time friend
The monkey on you’re back is the latest trend
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

JUNO:
Here is the church and here is the steeple
We sure are cute for two ugly people
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

PAULIE:
We both have shiny happy fits of rage
You want more fans, I want more stage
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

JUNO:
You are always trying to keep it real
I’m in love with how you feel
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

PAULIE:
I kiss you on the brain in the shadow of a train
I kiss you all starry eyed, my body’s swinging from side to side
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

JUNO:
The pebbles forgive me, the trees forgive me
So why can’t you forgive me?
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

PAULIE & JUNO:
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

AND I AM TELLING YOU I’M NOT GOING (DREAMGIRLS, 2006)

American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson lets it all out and gave her Oscar winning performance for best supporting actress at that time in the movie-musical, Dreamgirls. The powerful ballad, And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going has been used countless times in singing contests.

AND I AM TELLING YOU I’M NOT GOING
sung by: Jennifer Hudson

And I am telling you
I’m not going
You’re the best man I’ll ever know
There’s no way I can ever go
No, no, there’s no way
No, no, no, no way I’m living without you
I‘m not living without you
I don’t wanna be free
I’m staying
I’m staying
And you, and you
You’re gonna love me, oohh ooh mm mm
You’re gonna love me

And I am telling you
I’m not going
Even though the rough times are showing
There’s just no way, there’s no way
We’re part of the same place
We’re part of the same time
We both share the same blood
We both have the same mind

And time and time, we’ve had so much to see and
No, no, no, no, no, no way
I‘m not waking up tomorrow morning
and finding that there’s nobody there
And I mean there’s no way
No, no, no, no way I’m living without you
I’m not living without you
You see there’s just no way, there’s no way

Tear down the mountains
Yell, scream, and shout like you can say what you want
I’m not walking out
Stop all the rivers, push, strike, and kill
I’m not gonna leave you
There’s no way I will
And I am
telling you
I’m not going
You’re the best man I’ll ever know
There’s no way I can ever, ever go
No, no, no, no way
No, no, no, no way
I’m living without you
Oh, I’m not living without you, not living without you
I don’t wanna be free
I’m staying, I’m staying
And you, and you, and you
You’re gonna love me

You’re gonna love me, yes you are
Ooh ooh love me, ooh ooh ooh love me
Love me
Love me
Love me
Love me
You’re gonna love me….

ALMOST UNREAL (SUPER MARIO BROS., 1993)

Famous pop duo in the '90s Roxette sang the power ballad of the live version of perhaps the most popular video game ever produced, Super Mario Bros. Though the film adaptation leaves a lot to be desired, the theme nevertheless, is a hit.

ALMOST UNREAL
sung by: Roxette

Babe, come in from the cold and put that coat to rest
Step inside, take a deep breath, and do what you do best
Yes, kick off them shoes and leave those city streets
I do believe love came our way, and fate did arrange for us to meet

I love when you do that hocus pocus to me
The way that you touch, you’ve got the power to heal
You give me that look, it’s almost unreal
It’s almost unreal

Hey, we can’t stop the rain, let’s find a place by the fire
Sometimes I feel, strange as it seems
You’ve been in my dreams all my life

I love when you do that hocus pocus to me
The way that you touch, you’ve got the power to heal
You give me that look, it’s almost unreal
It’s almost unreal

It’s a crazy world out there (It’s a crazy)
Let’s hope our prayers are in good hands tonight

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Oh, I love when you do that hocus pocus to me
The way that you touch, you’ve got the power to heal
You give me that look, it’s almost unreal
It’s almost unreal, so unreal

Yeah come on and do the hocus pocus to me
The way that you touch, you’ve got the power to heal
You give me that look, it’s almost unreal
It’s almost unreal, yeah
It’s almost unreal
(Do the hocus pocus to me)
(Do the hocus pocus)
It’s almost unreal
(Do the hocus pocus to me)
(Do the hocus pocus)...

ALL TIME HIGH (OCTOPUSSY, 1983)

Roger Moore's starrer as the famous Agent 007 in Octopussy gets a chic movie theme via Rita Coolidge's wonderful rendition of All Time High. In the movie, Bond's on the mission to stop jewel smugglers and possible nuclear attacks on NATO. Pure Bond style.

ALL TIME HIGH
sung by: Rita Coolidge

All I wanted was a sweet distraction for an hour or two
Had no intention to do the things we’ve done
Funny how it always goes with love, when you don’t look, you find
But then we’re two of a kind, we move as one

We’re an all time high
We’ll change all that’s gone before
Doing so much more than falling in love
On an all time high
We’ll take on the world and wait
So hold on tight, let the flight begin

I don’t want to waste a waking moment; I don’t want to sleep
I’m in so strong and so deep, and so are you
In my time I’ve said these words before, but now I realize
My heart was telling me lies, for you they’re true

We’re an all time high
We’ll change all that’s gone before
Doing so much more than falling in love
On an all time high
We’ll take on the world and wait
So hold on tight, let the flight begin
So hold on tight, let the flight begin
We’re an all time high

ALL THE THINGS YOU ARE (BROADWAY RHYTHM, 1944)

One of the most beautiful songs ever written, All The Things You Are was sung by lead star Ginny Simms from the 1944 classic film Broadway Rhythm, which was based on the stage musical Very Warm For May in 1939. Every songs except for All The Things You Are were dropped from the original musical song selections. The song has been covered by numerous artists, notable is the one done by Johnny Mathis.

ALL THE THINGS YOU ARE
sung by: Ginny Simms

Time and again I’ve longed for adventure
Something to make my heart beat the faster
What did I long for?
I never really knew

Finding your love, I’ve found my adventure
Touching your hand, my heart beats the faster
All that I want in all of this world is you

You are the promised kiss of springtime
That makes the lonely winter seem long
You are the breathless hush of evening
That trembles on the brink of a lovely song

You are the angel glow that lights a star
The dearest things I know are what you are
Someday my happy arms will hold you
And someday I’ll know that moment divine
When all the things you are, are mine

Someday my happy arms will hold you
And someday I’ll know that moment divine
When all the things you are, are mine

ALL STAR (MYSTERY MEN, 1999)

"He who questions training only trains himself at asking questions."
- The Sphinx

90's group Smash Mouth sang the very upbeat theme All Star from the wacky 'superheroes' flick Mystery Men. About a group of superhero wannabes of the lower kind. The film is an underrated com flick.

ALL STAR
sung by: Smash Mouth

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me
I ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an "L" on her forehead

Well the years start coming and they don’t stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn’t make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb

So much to do so much to see
So what’s wrong with taking the back streets
You’ll never know if you don’t go
You’ll never shine if you don’t glow

Hey now you’re an All Star get your game on, go play
Hey now you’re a Rock Star get the show on, get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold

It’s a cool place and they say it gets colder
You’re bundled up now but wait ‘til you get older
But the meteor men beg to differ
Judging by the hole in the satellite picture

The ice we skate is getting pretty thin
The waters getting warm so you might as well swim
My world’s on fire how about yours
That’s the way I like it and I never get bored

Hey now you’re an All Star get your game on, go play
Hey now you’re a Rock Star get the show on, get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Hey now you’re an All Star get your game on, go play
Hey now you’re a Rock Star get the show on, get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars -

Somebody once asked could I spare some change for gas
I need to get myself away from this place
I said yep what a concept
I could use a little fuel myself
And we could all use a little change

Well the years start coming and they don’t stop coming
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running
Didn’t make sense not to live for fun
Your brain gets smart but your head gets dumb
So much to do so much to see
So what’s wrong with taking the back streets
You’ll never know if you don’t go
You’ll never shine if you don’t glow

Hey now you’re an All Star get your game on, go play
Hey now you’re a Rock Star get the show on, get paid
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold
And all that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold

ALL OF MY LIFE (THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES, 1996)

"When my date takes me home and kisses me good night, if I don't hear the philharmonic in my head, I dump him." - Rose Morgan

The 'other' love theme from The Mirror Has Two Faces. Lead star and film's director herself Barbara Streisand sang the lovely All Of My Life.

ALL OF MY LIFE
sung by: Barbara Streisand

I was alone
You were alone
Parallel lines that touched one another
Just feeling our way
Lost in the dark
Drawn to each other

So much to say, and so much to do
So much of you for me to discover
Like what makes you laugh
And what makes you cry
How does a friend become a lover, too?

I’ve waited all of my life to find
Someone who’d need my heart and read my mind
To light my days and warm my nights
Someone I know I could call
My someone for all my life

Looking at you, looking at me
Loving the look of love that I see there
I find when I look deep in your eyes
Reflections of me there

I’ve waited all of my life to find
Someone who’d need my heart and read my mind
To light my days and warm my nights
Now all at once in your arms

Everything’s new
All that I feel, tells me it’s true
All that I ask
Is all of my life... with you

ALL I ASK OF YOU (THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, 2004)

An oft-sung duet, All I Ask Of You were sang by lead stars Patrick Wilson as Raoul and Emmy Rossum as Christine in the latest version of the beloved tale of the 'Phantom Of The Opera.' Their duet were both soulful and haunting.

ALL I ASK OF YOU
sung by: Patrick Wilson & Emmy Rossum
(Raoul & Christine)

RAOUL:
No more talk of darkness
Forget these wide-eyed fears
I’m here, nothing can harm you
My words will warm and calm you

Let me be your freedom
Let daylight dry your tears
I’m here, with you, beside you
To guard you and to guide you

CHRISTINE:
Say you love me every waking moment
Turn my head with talk of summertime
Say you need me with you now and always
Promise me that all you say is true
That’s all I ask of you

RAOUL:
Let me be your shelter
Let me be your light, you’re safe
No one will find you
Your fears are far behind you

CHRISTINE:
All I want is freedom
A world with no more night
And you always beside me
To hold me and to hide me

RAOUL:
Then say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime
Let me lead you from your solitude
Say you need me with you here, beside you
Anywhere you go, let me go too
Christine, that’s all I ask of you

CHRISTINE:
Say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime
Say the word and I will follow you

BOTH:
Share each day with me
Each night, each morning

CHRISTINE:
Say you love me

RAOUL:
You know I do

BOTH:
Love me
That’s all I ask of you

Anywhere you go let me go too
Love me
That’s all I ask of you

ALICE (ALICE IN WONDERLAND, 2010)

Director Tim Burton's update on the beloved children's tale is one not to be missed. Johnny Depp's wisecrack portrayal of the infamous Mad Hatter is worth the price of admission. And yes, Burton's signature set. Avril Lavigne sang the movie theme, simply called Alice.

ALICE
sung by: Avril Lavigne

Tripping out
Spinning around
I’m underground, I fell down
I fell down

I’m freaking out
So where am I now?
Upside down
And I can’t stop it now
It can’t stop me now

I, I’ll get by
I, I’ll survive
When the world’s crashing down
When I fall and hit the ground
I will turn myself and run
Don’t you try to stop it
I, I won’t cry

I found myself in Wonderland
Get back on my feet again
Is this real?
Is this pretend?
I’ll take a stand until the end

I, I’ll get by
I, I’ll survive
When the world’s crashing down
When I’m falling hit the ground
I will turn myself around
Don’t you try to stop me
I, I won’t cry

I, I’ll get by
I, I’ll survive
When the world’s crashing down
When I’m falling hit the ground
I will turn myself around
Don’t you try to stop me
I, and I won’t cry

ALIVE (ENOUGH, 2002)

"Self-defense is not murder." - Slim Hiller

Jennifer Lopez plays Slim, a battered wife who takes on her husband played by Bill Campbell. One can only take so much as the movie's title implies. Jennifer Lopez also provided the mellow theme from the movie, Alive. An apt title for someone who's willing to fight back.

ALIVE
sung by: Jennifer Lopez

Time, goes, slowly now in my life
Fear, no more of what I’m not sure
Searchin’ to feel your soul
The strength to stand alone
The power of not knowing
And letting go

I guess I’ve found my way
It’s simple when it’s right
Feeling lucky just to be here tonight
And happy just to be me and be alive
Love, in and out on my, my heart
And though life can be strange
I can’t be afraid
Searchin’ to feel your soul
The strength to stand alone
The power of not knowing
And letting go

I guess I’ve found my way
It’s simple when it’s right
Feeling lucky just to be here tonight
And happy just to be me and be alive

(INSTRUMENTAL)

I guess I’ve found my way
It’s simple when it’s right
Feeling lucky just to be here tonight
And happy just to be me and be alive

ACROSS THE UNIVERSE (ACROSS THE UNIVERSE, 2007)

A fictional romantic tale between two lovers amidst the backdrop of the '60s turbulent years while sang their sentiments through the use of The Beatles iconic songs. The film's actor himself Jim Sturgess sang the titular theme.

ACROSS THE UNIVERSE
sung by: Jim Sturgess

Words are flying out like
Endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass
They slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy
Are drifting through my open mind
Possessing and caressing me

Jai guru deva om

Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

Images of broken light which
Dance before me like a million eyes
That call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a
Restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as
They make their way across the universe

Jai guru deva om

Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE (SHERK 2, 2004)

"The kingdom of FAR FAR Away, Donkey?
That's where we're going! FAR! FAR!... away." - Shrek

Counting Crows provided the very upbeat and fun theme from Dreamworks' follow-up to the successful Shrek series. A good sequel that lives up to the original.

ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE
sung by: Counting Crows

So she said what’s the problem baby
What’s the problem I don’t know
Well maybe I’m in love (love)
Think about it every time
I think about it
Can’t stop thinking ‘bout it

How much longer will it take to cure this
Just to cure it ‘cause I can’t ignore it if it’s love (love)
Makes me wanna turn around and face me
But I don’t know nothing ‘bout love

Come on, come on
Turn a little faster
Come on, come on
The world will follow after
Come on, come on
'Cause everybody’s after love

So I said I’m a snowball running
Running down into the spring that’s coming all this love
Melting under blue skies
Belting out sunlight
Shimmering love

Well baby I surrender
To the strawberry ice cream
Never ever end of all this love
Well I didn’t mean to do it

But there’s no escaping your love
These lines of lightning
Mean we’re never alone,
Never alone, no, no

Come on, Come on
Move a little closer
Come on, Come on
I want to hear you whisper
Come on, Come on
Settle down inside my love

Come on, come on
Jump a little higher
Come on, come on
If you feel a little lighter
Come on, come on
We were once
Upon a time in love

We’re accidentally in love

Accidentally in love
Accidentally in love
Accidentally in love
Accidentally in love
Accidentally in love
Accidentally in love
Accidentally in love
Accidentally
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
Accidentally
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
I’m in Love,
Accidentally

Come on, come on
Spin a little tighter
Come on, come on
And the world’s a little brighter
Come on, come on
Just get yourself inside her
Love ...I’m in love

A PLACE FOR US (BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA, 2007)

A wonderful and touching film, Bridge To Terabithia is based on the children's bestseller. Though not entirely a fantasy film, it's still recommended for the whole family to enjoy and understand about life and death. Leigh Nash (formerly of Sixpence None The Richer fame) and Tyler James lend their voices to sing A Place For Us.

A PLACE FOR US
sung by: Leigh Nash & Tyler James

When I close my eyes
I can see your face, and
The sun shining through
On that special place, and

You, you were always gonna be my king
(I was always gonna be your king)
I was always gonna be your queen
You know that we can always be anything
Remember now

Whatever may come, whenever you’re lost
Remember there’ll always be a place for us
Castles we build, they crumble to dust
Don’t worry, there’ll always be a place for us

A place for us

When I close my eyes
I can hear you laugh, and
The night, it will fall
And the day will pass, but

You, never ever know what you may find
(Never ever know what you may find)
All you gotta do is open your mind
Just gotta leave the real world behind
Remember now

Whatever may come, whenever you’re lost
Remember there’ll always be a place for us
Castles we build, they crumble to dust
Don’t worry, there’ll always be a place for us

Oooh-woah-oh...
Oooh-woah-oh...

You, you were always gonna be my king
(I was always gonna be your king)
I was always gonna be your queen
You know that we can always be anything
Remember now

Whatever may come, whenever you’re lost
Remember there’ll always be a place for us
Castles we build, they crumble to dust
Don’t worry, there’ll always be a place for us

(Whatever may come, whenever you’re lost)
Hey hey, there’ll always be a place for us
(Castles we build, they crumble to dust)
Hey hey, there’ll always be a place for us

A place for us
A place for us

A KISS AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW (A MIGHTY WIND, 2003)

Actors Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara wistfully sang the theme A Kiss At The End Of The Rainbow from the musical comedy A Mighty Wind. The song was nominated at the Oscars at that time and their performance on stage as Mitch & Mickey are both heartwarming and funny.

A KISS AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW
sung by: Eugene Levy & Catherine O'Hara (Mitch & Mickey)

TOGETHER:
Oh when the veil of dreams has lifted
And the fairy tales have all been told
There’s a kiss at the end of the rainbow
More precious than a pot of gold

MITCH:
In tales of ancient glory
Every knight and maiden fair
Shall be joined when the quest is over
And a kiss is the oath that they swear

TOGETHER:
And when the veil of dreams has lifted
And the fairy tales have all been told
There’s a kiss at the end of the rainbow
More precious than a pot of gold

MICKEY:
My sweet, my dear, my darling
You’re so far away from me
Though an ocean of tears divides us
Let the bridge of our love span the sea

(INSTRUMENTAL)

TOGETHER:
There’s a kiss at the end of the rainbow
More precious than a pot of gold

A HERO COMES HOME (BEOWULF, 2007)

The latest version of the tale of the legendary Beowulf done pure CGI. Broadway actress Idina Menzel provided the end credits version of the song A Hero Comes Home which Robin Wright Penn sang also during the course of the movie.

A HERO COMES HOME
sung by: Idina Menzel

Out of the midst of history he’ll come again
Sailing on ships across the sea to a wounded nation
Signs of a savior like fire on the water
It’s what we’ve prayed for, one of our own!

Just wait though wide he may roam
Always, a hero comes home
He goes where no one has gone
But always, a hero comes home

Deep in the heart of darkness
Sparks a dream of light
Surrounded by hopelessness he finds the will to fight
There’s no surrender always remember
It doesn’t end here, we’re not alone

Just wait though wide he may roam
Always, a hero comes home
He goes where no one has gone
But always, a hero comes home

And he will come back on a crimson tide
Dead or alive
And even though we know the bridge has burned
He will return, he will return

Just wait though wide he may roam
Always, a hero comes home
He knows of places unknown
But always, a hero comes home

Some day he may be carved in stone
The hero comes home
He goes and comes back alone
But always, a hero comes home

Just wait though wide he may roam
Always, a hero comes home

A DREAM IS A WISH YOUR HEART MAKES
sung by: Ilene Woods

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you’re fast asleep
In dreams you will lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep

Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true

9 TO 5 (9 TO 5, 1980)

Dolly Parton leads the pack along with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in this fun take of women taking charge in a man's world. The theme may be dated but still fun to watch. The song of the same title earned the nomination for best original song at the Oscars and the Golden Globe.

9 TO 5
sung by: Dolly Parton

Tumble outta bed
And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
Yawnin’ and stretchin’ and try to come to life

Jump in the shower
And the blood starts pumpin’
Out on the streets
The traffic starts jumpin’
With folks like me on the job from 9 to 5

Workin’ 9 to 5
What a way to make a livin’
Barely getting’ by
It’s all takin’ and no givin’
They just use your mind
And they never give you credit
It’s enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it

9 to 5, for service and devotion
You would think that
I Would deserve a fair promotion
Want to move ahead
But the boss won’t seem to let me
I swear sometimes that man is out to get me
Mmmmm...

They let your dream
Just a’ watch ‘em shatter
You’re just a step
On the boss man’s ladder
But you got dream he’ll never take away

In the same boat
With a lot of your friends
Waitin’ for the day
Your ship’ll come in
And the tide’s gonna turn
An’ it’s all gonna roll you away

Workin’ 9 to 5
What a way to make a livin’
Barely getting’ by
It’s all takin’ and no givin’
They just use your mind
And you never get the credit
It’s enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it

9 to 5, yeah, they got you where they want you
There’s a better life
And you think about it don’t you
It’s a rich man’s game
No matter what they call it
And you spend your life
Putting money in his wallet

Workin’ 9 to 5
What a way to make a livin’
Barely getting’ by
It’s all takin’ and no givin’
They just use you mind
And they never give you credit
It’s enough to drive you
Crazy if you love it

9 to 5, yeah, they got you where they want you
There’s a better life
And you think about it don’t you
It’s a rich man’s game
No matter what they call it
And you spend your life
Putting money in his wallet…

GHOST RIDERS IN THE SKY (GHOST RIDER, 2007)

Hit or miss, Ghost Rider (the movie) has a fiery soundtrack sang by the Australian rock band named Spiderbait. The film isn't actually bad, but not that great either. Still, enjoyable to watch whether or not you're a fan of Nicholas Cage.

(GHOST) RIDERS IN THE SKY
sung by: SpiderBait

An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way
When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw
A-plowing through the ragged sky and up the cloudy draw

Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
For he saw the Riders coming hard and he heard their mournful cry

Yippie yi yaaaaay
Yippie yi
Ohhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky
Yippie yi yaaaaay
Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred,
their shirts all soak with sweat
He’s riding hard to catch that herd, but he ain’t caught ‘em yet
’Cause they’ve got to ride forever on that range up in the sky
On horses snorting fire as they ride on hear their cry

As the riders loped on by him he heard one call his name
If you want to save your soul from Hell a-riding on our range
Then cowboy change your ways today or with us you will ride
Trying to catch the Devil’s herd, across these endless skies

Yippie yi yaaaaay
Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

Yippie yi yaaaaay
Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

(INSTRUMENTAL)

Yippie yi yaaaaay
Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

Yippie yi yaaaaay
Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky

Yippie yi yaaaaay
Yippie yi Ohhhhh
Ghost Riders in the sky
